The Study on Infilled Walls Effect in RC Frame Infilled Wall Structure

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013
The seismic damage and even collapse of the infilled walls in RC frame infilled wall structure is the issue that needs thorough study, In this paper, firstly introduces the improved infilled wall model which can consider the interaction of in-plane and out-of-plane, and can judge the damage state of infilled walls, as well as the interaction between RC

An analytical study on the behaviour of infilled RC frame with opening in infill

Materials Today: Proceedings, 2022
Abstract This study focuses on Reinforced Concrete infilled frames that are related with the high-rise buildings for analyzing the seismic effects. The high-rise buildings are focusing more on seismic effect due to the failure in masonry infills. The failures in the masonry infills are studied by many authors and the stiffness are also increased to ...

Influence of infill wall in RC frames

Engineering for Rural Development, 2023
The function of infilled masonry reinforced concrete (RC) frame buildings during severe events such as blast caused by explosions or earth movement – earthquake and other significant lateral displacement could seriously damage a supporting frame column, causing the frame to collapse completely or partially.

Seismic performance of RC frames strengthened by RC infill walls

Advances in Structural Engineering, 2021
This study presents the shake-table tests of a 1/5-scaled RC frame retrofitted with RC infill walls. The intensity of input ground motions increased gradually to comprehensively evaluate the structural seismic behavior. We performed a comparison of the results from the RC frame with masonry walls and that with RC walls.

Strengthening of RC nonductile frames with RC infills: An experimental study

Cement and Concrete Composites, 2008
Abstract The purpose of this study was to experimentally investigate the behavior of RC nonductile frames with RC infills under lateral loads. A total of six 1/3 scaled one bay, two story nonductile specimens were built and tested under reversed cyclic lateral load. Specimen frames were manufactured with the deficiencies commonly observed in practice.

EFFECTS OF “REINFORCED” INFILLED FRAMES ON EXISTING RC BUILDINGS

Proceedings of the 4th International Conference on Computational Methods in Structural Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering (COMPDYN 2013), 2014
This paper presents some considerations about the role of strengthening interventions involving the solidarization of the infill panels to the RC frame on the seismic retrofitting of existing buildings. Within this context, an appraisal of the actual resulting displacement capacity and of possible alteration induced on the global collapse mechanism and

RETROFIT OF MASONRY INFILLS: LOCAL INTERACTION WITH RC FRAMES

2020
The achievement of code-based performance criteria in existing reinforced concrete buildings is often gained through different retrofit techniques aimed at improving the seismic behavior of both structural members and non-structural elements, such as infill walls. Focusing on masonry infill walls, state-of-art strengthening techniques are often adopted

FRP Seismic Strengthening of Infilled RC Frames

2023
Recent seismic events demonstrated the high vulnerability of existing reinforced concrete (RC) buildings in the Mediterranean area. This is related to the lack of proper seismic details and to the brittle response of hollow clay brick infills. The high stiffness of infills may significantly modify the structural response, reducing the period of ...

Extension of Displacement-Based Assessment to Infilled RC Frames

2014
The existing buildings in several countries are characterized by numerous examples of RC frames with masonry infills. Various studies showed how the presence of masonry infills may alter the overall behaviour of structures when subjected to seismic action. The presence of the masonry infills can produce positive or negative effects.
