Search for an infiltrator

Naval Research Logistics, 1995
Summary: We have solved a discrete search game on an array of \(n\) ordered cells for \(n\leq 9\), with two players: infiltrator (hider) and searcher, who have opposite goals. The infiltrator wishes to reach the last cell number \(n\) (in finite time) and the searcher has to defend that cell.

Reactive infiltration by Si: Infiltration versus wetting

Scripta Materialia, 2010
This paper focuses on spontaneous infiltration by liquid metals in reactive metal/ceramic systems. Two cases of reactive infiltration, where a molten silicon drop is in contact with two different porous bodies, graphite and (oxidized) silicon nitride, are briefly described and discussed.

Infiltration and Extravasation

AJN, American Journal of Nursing, 2007
The Infusion Nurses Society's national standards of practice require that a nurse who administers IV medication or fluid know its adverse effects and appropriate interventions to take before starting the infusion. A serious complication is the inadvertent administration of a solution or medication into the tissue surrounding the IV catheter--when it is

Infiltration

2005
This chapter describes infiltration of water into the soil. It presents four models of one-dimensional infiltration: the Lewis equation, Horton equation, Green and Ampt equation, and Philip equation. Two- and three-dimensional infiltration is touched upon, and Wooding's equation, widely used to characterize the infiltration of water away from a ...

Infiltration and Percolation

1969
When rain falls upon the ground it first of all wets the vegetation or the bare soil. When the surface cover is completely wet, subsequent rain must either penetrate the surface layers, if the surface is permeable, or run off the surface towards a stream channel if it is impermeable.

Infiltration

2011
Publisher Summary The ninja of old had somewhat of an advantage by living in an age bereft of advanced forensics techniques. When infiltrating a facility using the techniques of the Zukin, one of the primary concerns is to not leave evidence that might prepare the target for the possibility of a future attack, thus rendering the painfully gathered ...

Internalization and Infiltration

2005
Microorganisms embedded in plant tissues may be defined as ‘‘internalized,’’ derived from ‘‘internal,’’ meaning located inside the plant surface. Functionally, internalized microbes cannot be washed off the plant, they are protected from environmental stresses, and they cannot be inactivated by contact biocides or other surface disinfectants.

The ‘Infiltrators’ of Delhi

2018
The presence of Bangladeshi migrants in Delhi, and in India itself, became a major element in the election campaigns of Hindu nationalists in the 1990s. For Hindu nationalists, the Hindu Bangladeshis in India are ‘refugees’ and the Muslim Bangladeshis are ‘infiltrators’ who are actively conspiring against the Hindus of India.

Infiltrating neoplasms of the kidney

American Journal of Roentgenology, 1977
Some neoplastic processes which involve the kidney develop not as a distinct localized mass, but rather as an infiltrating process which replaces the renal parenchyma, causes little or no mass effect, and contains little if any neovascularity. These neoplasms include (1) carcinoma of the renal pelvis when it invades the parenchyma (transitional cell ...
