LIF regulates CXCL9 in tumor-associated macrophages and prevents CD8+ T cell tumor-infiltration impairing anti-PD1 therapy

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
Cancer response to immunotherapy depends on the infiltration of CD8+ T cells and the presence of tumor-associated macrophages within tumors. Still, little is known about the determinants of these factors.

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Mechanism insight into twin-dependent photocatalysis in near-infrared light-responsive Cu2O nanocrystals with rich oxygen vacancies

open access: yesNano Materials Science
Simultaneous integration of rich oxygen vacancies (OVs) and twin crystals in a photocatalyst can not only significantly enhance the near-infrared (NIR) light response but also greatly improve the photocharge separation and transfer efficiency owing to ...

Tissue eosinophilia and eosinophil degranulation in Riedel's invasive fibrous thyroiditis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
The etiology of Riedel's invasive fibrous thyroiditis (IFT) has remained obscure. This rare disorder has been confused in the past with the more common fibrous variant of Hashimoto's disease.

Comparing infiltration rates in soils managed with conventional and alternative farming methods: A meta-analysis

open access: yesbioRxiv, 2019
Identifying agricultural practices that enhance water cycling is critical, particularly with increased rainfall variability and greater risks of droughts and floods.

Reduced vascular leakage correlates with breast carcinoma T regulatory cell infiltration but not with metastatic propensity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A mouse model for vascular normalization and a human breast cancer cohort were studied to understand the relationship between vascular leakage and tumor immune suppression. For this, endothelial and immune cell RNAseq, staining for vascular function, and immune cell profiling were employed.

Improving PARP inhibitor efficacy in bladder cancer without genetic BRCAness by combination with PLX51107

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.

Application of the electrical impedance spectrometry method for monitoring of water flow through unsaturated soil

open access: yesActa Scientiarum Polonorum. Formatio Circumiectus, 2020
Aim of the study: The aim of the research was to determine the sensitivity of the impedance spectrometry (EIS) method to changes in electrical resistance of the soil medium caused by water infiltration. Material and methods: The research was carried
