Abstract We are now going to look at some geometries in which, to see what is going on and to do calculations properly, we need to add to our plane one or more ‘points at infinity’. As a by-product, we shall find ourselves able to set up models for non-Euclidean geometry, where Euclid’s parallel axiom (see Section 1.3) fails to hold.
