Inflation Expectations Revisited
Economica, 1988This paper describes the construction and main features of a new monthly time series for the mean and standard deviation of consumer inflation expectations in the United Kingdom in the years 1961-85, based on a number of consumer surveys. Global Inflation Dynamics and Inflation Expectations
SSRN Electronic Journal, 2018Abstract In this paper we investigate dynamics of inflation and short-run inflation expectations. We estimate a global vector autoregressive (GVAR) model using Bayesian techniques. We then explore the effects of three source of inflationary pressure that could drive up inflation expectations: domestic aggregate demand and supply shocks as well as a ...

Inflation Expectations and Inflation Persistence

Using a Markov‐switching model of U.S. inflation, we first show that higher inflation persistence is associated with a higher mean level of inflation and greater inflation uncertainty.

Measuring Inflation Expectations
Annual Review of Economics, 2013To conduct monetary policy, central banks around the world increasingly rely on measures of public inflation expectations. In this article, we review findings from an ongoing initiative at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York aimed at improving the measurement and our understanding of household inflation expectations through surveys.

Abstract This chapter argues that although it is correct, nowadays, to take it that inflation is expected, it is a mistake to suppose that the expectation of inflation is consistent. One should distinguish between the effects of inflation on different kinds of markets and different kinds of dealings.
