Ultrafast Photocatalytic Wettability Switching in Substrate‐Interface Tailored Titanium Dioxide Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates ultrafast photocatalytic wettability switching in TiO2 thin films by tailoring substrate doping and interface oxides. Enhanced switching rates and hemiwicking effects are achieved through optimized material stacks and nanostructuring.

Pattern Formation in Non‐Equilibrium Architected Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This article demonstrates an artificial mechanical system ‐ a robotic metamaterial ‐ as an accessible and versatile platform within which to explore and prescribe the reaction‐diffusion driven pattern formation hitherto associated with comparatively less accessible and versatile non‐equilibrium biological and chemical systems.

CP VIOLATIONS (AND MORE) AFTER THE FIRST TWO YEARS OF LHCB

open access: yesActa Polytechnica, 2013
The most interesting cosmological open problems, baryon asymmetry, dark matter, inflation and dark energy, are not explained by the standard model of particle physics (SM). The finalgoal of the Large Hadron Collider an experimental verification of the SM

Moderate inflation [PDF]

open access: yes
Inflation persists at moderate rates (15-30 percent) in all the countries that successfully reduced triple-digit inflation in the 1980s. Several other countries--for example, Colombia--have experienced moderate inflation for prolonged periods.

Ultra‐Thin Soft Pneumatic Actuation for Minimally Invasive Neural Interfacing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Parylene C is a common polymer in bioelectronics, favored for its biological and chemical inertness. However, this makes bonding layers of Parylene C together very challenging. Here it is a laser to selectively weld layers of Parylene C to create high‐pressure fluidic actuation devices.

The New Cosmology: Mid-term Report Card for Inflation [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales Henri Poincaré, 2003
Inflation has been the driving idea in cosmology for two decades and is a pillar of the New Cosmology. The inflationary paradigm has now passed its first round of significant tests, with two of its three basics predictions confirmed at about the 10% level. The Inflationary Paradigm has some of the truth.
