Inflationary Cosmology in Modified Gravity Theories [PDF]
We review inflationary cosmology in modified gravity such as R2 gravity with its extensions in order to generalize the Starobinsky inflation model. In particular, we explore inflation realized by three kinds of effects: modification of gravity, the quantum anomaly, and the R2 term in loop quantum cosmology.

Relaxing the TCC bound on inflationary cosmology? [PDF]
We demonstrate that the strict upper bounds on the energy scale of inflation and on the tensor-to-scalar ratio can be somewhat relaxed if we assume that – after an initial period of slow rolling when scales probed today in CMB experiments exit the Hubble

Quantum entanglement in inflationary cosmology
We investigate the time-dependent entanglement entropy in the AdS space with a dS boundary which represents an expanding spacetime. On this time-dependent spacetime, we show that the Ryu–Takayanagi formula, which is usually valid in the static spacetime,

Inflationary cosmology: theory and phenomenology
This article gives a brief overview of some of the theory behind the inflationary cosmology, and discusses prospects for constraining inflation using observations. Particular care is given to the question of falsifiability of inflation or of subsets of inflationary models.

INFLATIONARY COSMOLOGY FROM NONCOMMUTATIVE GEOMETRY [PDF]
In the framework of the Connes-Lott model based on noncommutative geometry, the basic features of a gauge theory in the presence of gravity are reviewed, in order to show the possible physical relevance of this scheme for inflationary cosmology. These models naturally contain at least two scalar fields, interacting with each other whenever more than ...

Navigating Permanent Underdetermination in Dark Energy and Inflationary Cosmology [PDF]
We identify troubling cases of so-called “permanent underdetermination” in both dark energy and inflationary cosmology. We bring to bear (a) a taxonomy of possible responses to underdetermination, and (b) an understanding of both dark energy and ...

In this Editorial to the Special Issue “The Friedmann Cosmology: A Century Later”, we consider an outstanding character of Friedmann’s prediction of Universe expansion, which laid the foundation of modern cosmology.

Epistemic Justification and Methodological Luck in Inflationary Cosmology. [PDF]
I present a recent historical case from cosmology---the story of inflationary cosmology---and on its basis argue that solving explanatory problems can be a reliable method for making progress in science.
