A Study of Verb Inflection Usage in Sentences by EFL Students: Challenges and Trends

open access: yesAcuity
This study investigates the distribution and challenges of verb inflection usage among English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students at Tadulako University, focusing on regular verb inflection namely the use of suffixes such as -ed, -s, -ing, and -en ...

Focused verbal inflections in Spanish

open access: yesIsogloss, 2021
Spanish allows to focus the Number and Person features of the verbal inflection to produce an interpretation similar to that of a contrastively focused pronoun. This squib discusses two properties distinguishing both phenomena.

2D Co‐Assembly of Solid Acids Enables Stable Superprotonic Conduction Above 260°C

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A two‐dimensional co‐assembly strategy integrates antimony phosphate and phosphotungstic acid nanosheets into free‐standing inorganic lamellar membranes with confined acid–acid interfaces. The resulting interfacial hydrogen‐bond network enables anhydrous proton conductivity exceeding 0.1 S cm−1 at 260°C and supports stable high‐temperature fuel‐cell ...

Morphologically based agreement in Swahili

open access: yesStudies in African Linguistics, 1989
In this paper we argue that to a great extent noun class agreement in Swahili is based on inflectional features. Yet where inflectional features are not present, a derivational feature of inherent noun class controls agreement.

Decoupling Electron and Phonon Transport in 3D‐Printed Bismuth Telluride via Synergistic Compositional Co‐Enrichment

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, we use direct ink writing (DIW) to 3D print Bi2Te3‐based materials and naturally induce hierarchical functional nanostructures, which reduced the lattice thermal conductivity by half, resulting in high zT of 0.87and 0.89 in p‐type and n‐type compounds, respectively, competitive with commercial materials.

Descriptive Criteria of nominal inflectional categories in Ancient Greek Grammar

open access: yesClassica Cracoviensia, 2013
Descriptive Criteria of nominal inflectional categories in Ancient Greek Grammar The present paper analyses the methodology adopted in the ancient Greek grammatical tradition to define and describe the nominal inflectional categories, i.e.

Chitin‐Derived Carbon‐Metal Functional Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Functional carbon materials are synthesized from combination of biopolymer (chitin) and iron precursors. The resultant material exhibits superior surface area and adsorptive properties compared to carbon materials synthesized directly from pure chitin.

Roll‐to‐Roll Processable EC/TC Hybrid Smart Windows Driven by a Bidirectional Dual‐Chromic Polymer Electrolyte

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a scalable EC/TC hybrid smart window using a DCPE that enables tunable solar modulation (ΔTsol:15–43%), fast electrochromic switching (<90 s), and strong thermal blocking (10–14°C reduction). HPMC improves thermal stability, while an optimized ISL enhances EC performance.

When Poor Exciton Dissociation Limits Photocurrents in Organic Solar Cells: Why Low Offset Non‐Fullerene Acceptor Blends Can't Be Efficient

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The energetic offset between the donor and the acceptor components in organic photoactive layers is central to the tradeoff between photovoltage and photocurrent losses. This Perspective covers the most important issues surrounding this topic in non‐fullerene acceptor blends, from the difficulty of accurately determining state energies and driving ...

Corpus-based measures discriminate inflection and derivation cross-linguistically

open access: yesJournal of Language Modelling
In morphology, a distinction is commonly drawn between inflection and derivation. However, a precise definition of this distinction which reflects the way it manifests across languages remains elusive within linguistic theory, typically being based on ...
