Transition To Order After Hilltop Inflation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We investigate the rich nonlinear dynamics during the end of hilltop inflation by numerically solving the coupled Klein-Gordon-Friedmann equations in a expanding universe.

Matrix Inflation and the Landscape of its Potential [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Recently we introduced an inflationary setup in which the inflaton fields are matrix valued scalar fields with a generic quartic potential, M-flation. In this work we study the landscape of various inflationary models arising from M-flation.

Absolute emission altitude of pulsars: PSRs B1839+09, B1916+14 and B2111+46 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We study the mean profiles of the multi--component pulsars PSRs B1839+09, B1916+14 and B2111+46. We estimate the emission height of the core components, and hence find the absolute emission altitudes corresponding to the conal components.

Regular nonminimal magnetic black holes in spacetimes with a cosmological constant

open access: yes, 2016
We consider new regular exact spherically symmetric solutions of a nonminimal Einstein--Yang-Mills theory with a cosmological constant and a gauge field of magnetic Wu-Yang type.

Spectral Energy Distributions and Multiwavelength Selection of Type 1 Quasars [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We present an analysis of the mid-infrared (MIR) and optical properties of type 1 (broad-line) quasars detected by the Spitzer Space Telescope. The MIR color-redshift relation is characterized to z ~ 3, with predictions to z = 7.

Irreversibility of the Renormalization Group Flow in Two Dimensional Quantum Gravity

open access: yes, 1992
We argue that the torus partition sum in $2d$ (super) gravity, which counts physical states in the theory, is a decreasing function of the renormalization group scale.

What Do Large Language Models Know About Materials?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
If large language models (LLMs) are to be used inside the material discovery and engineering process, they must be benchmarked for the accurateness of intrinsic material knowledge. The current work introduces 1) a reasoning process through the processing–structure–property–performance chain and 2) a tool for benchmarking knowledge of LLMs concerning ...

First Evaluation of an Index of Low Vagally-Mediated Heart Rate Variability as a Marker of Health Risks in Human Adults: Proof of Concept. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Multiple studies have demonstrated low vagally-mediated heart rate variability (HRV) being associated with a range of risk factors for heart disease and stroke, including inflammation, hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia, and hypertension.

Enhanced Strength and Corrosion Resistance of Ti‐13Nb‐12Ta‐10Zr‐4Sn Alloy by Aging Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work systematically investigates the effect of aging treatment on mechanical properties and corrosion behavior of vacuum arc‐melted Ti‐13Nb‐12Ta‐10Zr‐4Sn alloy. Owing to the increased α″ martensite, strength and corrosion resistance were significantly enhanced by aging treatment.

The iliac and femoral arteries: Dimensions and tortuosity in a South African radiological sample

open access: yesTranslational Research in Anatomy
Background: Arterial morphology varies and changes with increasing age. This may challenge the success of endovascular procedures and influence candidate selection.
