Influence Diagrams—Historical and Personal Perspectives [PDF]

open access: yesDecision Analysis, 2005
The usefulness of graphical models in reasoning and decision making stems from facilitating four main computational features: (1) modular representation of probabilities, (2) systematic construction methods, (3) explicit encoding of independencies, and (4) efficient inference procedures.

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

NONLINEAR DYNAMICS ANALYSIS OF A SINGLE-DISK FLEXIBLE RUBBING ROTOR

open access: yesJixie qiangdu, 2021
A rotor system in rubbing is shown to exhibit complex phenomena including period-doubling bifurcation, quasiperiodic and chaotic motions due to itsstrongly nonlinear dynamic characteristics. Based on the mechanical model of a single-disk flexible Jeffcott

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Influence of errors of geochemical analyses on genetic geodynamic and geological conclusions [PDF]

open access: yesМинералогия
The influence of analytical errors of geochemical analyses on genetic conclusions is typically underestimated by researchers. The composition of rocks or minerals, as a rule, is shown on diagrams as a point, actually with no size, however, all analyses ...

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Transformation of diagrams of isolines for scalar properties of ternary homogeneous mixtures

open access: yesТонкие химические технологии, 2015
The article considers the transformation of the structures of contour diagrams for scalar properties of three-component homogeneous mixtures (composition-property diagrams).

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...
