Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Influence function for robust phylogenetic reconstructions.
Based on the computation of the influence function, a tool to measure the impact of each piece of sampled data on the statistical inference of a parameter, we propose to analyze the support of the maximum-likelihood (ML) tree for each site.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Limit behavior of the empirical influence function of the median. [PDF]
The empirical influence function EIF(x,T-n;X) measures the influence of an observation x on the estimator T-n at a sample X of size n. In this note we show that the empirical influence function of the median is not a consistent estimator of the ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Influences of monotone Boolean functions
Recently, Keller and Pilpel conjectured that the influence of a monotone Boolean function does not decrease if we apply to it an invertible linear transformation. Our aim in this short note is to prove this conjecture.

Influence of polyamines on membrane functions [PDF]
The purpose of this review is to summarize observations where polyamines were shown to be of importance in membrane functions. It is not meant to be exhaustive but rather focus on selected areas where the activity of the polyamines might be of physiological ...
