The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1951Abstract A large number of masticatory function tests have been carried out on twenty selected denture wearers for the purpose of obtaining clues concerning the factors affecting masticatory function. The function tests include effective occlusal area, maximum force, and sixteen performance tests with two test foods.

Genetic, nutritional, environmental, uteroplacental, and fetal factors have been suggested to influence fetal growth.
