Confined B‐Cell Reconstruction and High T‐Cell Clonality Define Clinical Response to Cladribine Treatment

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Cladribine tablets are approved for relapsing multiple sclerosis, mediating their clinical effect by moderately depleting lymphocytes. In a prospective, monocentric study including 22 patients completing 2 annual cycles of cladribine, B‐ and T‐cell receptor repertoires and relapse activity were assessed at baseline and after 24 months. T‐cell clonality

CSF‐Compartmentalized Antibody Glycoprofiles in NMDAR Encephalitis Associate with Etiology and Functional Recovery

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective To characterize Fc‐glycosylation profiles in patients with anti‐N‐methyl‐D‐aspartate receptor encephalitis (NMDARe) and assess their association with antibody compartmentalization (cerebrospinal fluid [CSF] vs serum), disease triggers (viral, tumor‐related or idiopathic), and 1‐year outcomes.

Increased Numbers of CD4+ T‐Cells in the Hypocretin/Orexin Region of Narcolepsy Type 1

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Narcolepsy type 1 (NT1) is presumed to be an autoimmune disorder caused by hypothalamic loss of hypocretin (Hcrt; orexin). In postmortem NT1 brains, we observed an 11‐fold increase of CD4+ T‐cells in the Hcrt region compared with control hypothalami, without a corresponding rise in CD8+ T‐cells.

INFLUENZA B VIRUS REINFECTION

American Journal of Epidemiology, 1987
Four outbreaks of influenza B infection occurred in Houston, Texas in the years 1976-1984. Influenza B Virus in Seals

Science, 2000
Influenza B virus is a human pathogen whose origin and possible reservoir in nature are not known. An influenza B virus was isolated from a naturally infected harbor seal ( Phoca vitulina ) and was found to be infectious to seal kidney cells in vitro.
