Structural investigations of influenza B virus

Journal of Molecular Biology, 1981
Purified preparations of influenza B/Hong Kong/5/72 have been characterized by hydrodynamical measurements, electron microscopy and small-angle neutron scattering. As judged by these techniques the preparations are highly monodisperse, the virus particles being spherical and of molecular weight about 200 × 106.

Recognition of influenza virus-infected B-cell lines by human influenza virus-specific CTL

Cellular Immunology, 1988
The cytotoxic activity on influenza virus-infected Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-transformed B-lymphoblastoid cell lines (LCL-Flu) and influenza virus-infected phytohemagglutinin lymphoblasts (PHA-Flu) was compared with the use of influenza-A virus-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL), generated in short-term bulk cultures.

Hemagglutination by Influenza Virus: II. The Existence of Two Phases of Influenza B Virus

Journal of Infectious Diseases, 1948
The early stages of adaptation in chick embryos of the BON strain of influenza B virus were characterized by Burnet, Beveridge, and Bull.1 No fluids giving fowl/guinea pig (F/GP) hemagglutinating ratios below unity were observed, but with allantoic passage high F/GP ratios were obtained.1 Burnet and his colleagues concluded that the changes in the F/GP

Optic neuritis associated with influenza B virus meningoencephalitis

Journal of Clinical Virology, 2014
Various postinfectious neurological manifestations have been described associated to influenza viruses. Optic neuritis is a serious, often reversible disease reported among several infectious diseases and vaccines complications. We report a case of optic neuritis following an influenza B virus infection in a 10-year-old male.

Nosocomial Influenza B Virus Infection in the Elderly

Annals of Internal Medicine, 1982
A hospital-acquired outbreak of influenza-like illness that involved 29 patients during 4 weeks was detected in March 1980. The average age of the patients was 63 years. Eighteen of the 29 patients with symptoms had influenza B virus infection documented by virus isolations, fourfold or greater hemagglutination inhibition antibody increases, or both ...
