Simultaneous Enhancement of Performance and Stability in Dual‐Gate a‐IGZO Thin‐Film Transistors via Single‐Step Laser Annealing for Capacitor‐Less DRAM

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A single‐step laser annealing strategy is presented for dual‐gate a‐IGZO TFTs. The steep thermal gradient induces graded oxygen doping in the channel and simultaneous WOx removal at the contacts, enabling concurrent interface and contact engineering.

Splitting of Composite Neural Networks via Proximal Operator With Information Bottleneck

open access: yesIEEE Access
Deep learning has achieved efficient success in the field of machine learning, made possible by the emergence of efficient optimization methods such as Stochastic Gradient Descent (SGD) and its variants. Simultaneously, the Information Bottleneck theory (

Ramp metering and freeway bottleneck capacity [PDF]

open access: yes
The objective of this study is to determine whether ramp meters increase the capacity of active freeway bottlenecks, and if they do, how. The traffic flow characteristics at twenty-seven active bottlenecks in the Twin Cities have been studied for seven ...

Functionalizing Micro‐to‐Mesoscopic Electrode Architectures for Regulating Electron Transfer Behaviors in Electrocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A systematic review is conducted to assess the influence of electrode architecture across micro‐ to mesoscopic length scales on electron‐transfer pathways in electrocatalysis. We discuss the structure‐activity relationships in electrocatalytic applications, including resource recovery and environmental remediation, and provide cost‐effective, efficient

Atom Probe Tomography as an Emerging Tool for Understanding Defect‑Driven Mechanisms in HfO2‑Based Ferroelectrics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This Perspective highlights atom probe tomography as a powerful tool for understanding the atomic‐scale defect chemistry in HfO2‐based ferroelectrics. 3D mapping of dopants, point defects, and interface chemistry can provide new insight into defect‐driven mechanisms underpinning the ferroelectricity in the system and guide the design of more reliable ...

Partial Information Decomposition: Redundancy as Information Bottleneck [PDF]

open access: yes
The partial information decomposition (PID) aims to quantify the amount of redundant information that a set of sources provides about a target. Here, we show that this goal can be formulated as a type of information bottleneck (IB) problem, termed the ...

Noise‐Limited Bit Precision in Ferroelectric Synaptic Transistors for High‐Resolution Neuromorphic Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐frequency noise spectroscopy defines the resolvable conductance states of synaptic FeFETs by coupling read‐current fluctuation with usable dynamic range. The resulting noise‐limited bit precision establishes a universal, device‐agnostic reliability metric beyond the memory window, enabling quantitative benchmarking and rational design of high ...

Mono‐Material Polydisulfides for Pressure Sensitive Adhesive Tapes With Closed‐Loop Recyclability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A high‐performance pressure‐sensitive adhesive (PSA) tape is developed where both the adhesive layer and plastic backing layer can be recycled back to monomer in a closed‐loop cycle. Both layers of the tape are composed of analogous polydisulfide copolymers using only two unique monomers, thus giving it a mono‐material design and enabling recycling of ...

Head information bottleneck (HIB): leveraging information bottleneck for efficient transformer head attribution and pruning

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Audio, Speech, and Music Processing
Multi-head attention mechanisms have been widely applied in speech pre-training. However, their roles and effectiveness in various downstream tasks have not been fully explored. Attention heads may vary in importance depending on the downstream task.

Loop Closure Detection Via Maximization of Mutual Information

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
An image can be described in terms of appearance frequency of visual words. This representation is implemented in bag-of-visual-words (BoVW)-based loop closure detection for its efficiency and effectiveness. However, traditional BoVW-based approaches are
