Information cascade on networks [PDF]

open access: yesPhysica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 2015
In this paper, we discuss a voting model by considering three different kinds of networks: a random graph, the Barab\'{a}si-Albert(BA) model, and a fitness model. A voting model represents the way in which public perceptions are conveyed to voters.

Demystifying the Information Reconciliation Protocol Cascade [PDF]

open access: yesQuantum Information and Computation, 2014
Cascade is an information reconciliation protocol proposed in the context of secret key agreement in quantum cryptography. This protocol allows removing discrepancies in two partially correlated sequences that belong to distant parties, connected through

Information-thermodynamic bound on information flow in turbulent cascade

open access: yesPhysical Review Research
We investigate the nature of information flow in turbulence from an information-thermodynamic viewpoint. For the fully developed three-dimensional fluid turbulence described by the fluctuating Navier-Stokes equation, we prove that information of large ...

Informational Cascades Elicit Private Information [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2004
We introduce cheap talk in a dynamic investment model with information externalities. We first show how social learning adversely affects the credibility of cheap talk messages. Next, we show how an informational cascade makes truth‐telling incentive compatible. A separating equilibrium only exists for high‐surplus projects.

Informational cascades: A mirage? [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Economic Behavior & Organization, 2008
Abstract Experimental research found contradictory results regarding the occurrence of informational cascades. Whereas Anderson and Holt [Anderson, L.R., Holt, C.A., 1997. Information cascades in the laboratory. The American Economic Review 87, 847–862] confirmed the model of Banerjee [Banerjee, A.V., 1992. A simple model of herd behavior.

Information Bottleneck Theory Based Exploration of Cascade Learning

open access: yesEntropy, 2021
In solving challenging pattern recognition problems, deep neural networks have shown excellent performance by forming powerful mappings between inputs and targets, learning representations (features) and making subsequent predictions.

Self-Correcting Information Cascades [PDF]

open access: yesReview of Economic Studies, 2007
1Financial support from the National Science Foundation (SBR-0098400 and SES-0079301) and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation is gratefully acknowledged. The theory and experimental design was partially completed, and pilot experiments were conducted in collaboration with Richard McKelvey, who died in April 2002.

LDA-DeepHawkes Model for Predicting Information Cascade

open access: yesJisuanji kexue yu tansuo, 2020
It is an important research point of social network analysis to predict future propagation range of infor-mation based on its early propagation characteristics.

Privacy and utility of genetic testing in families with hereditary cancer syndromes living in three countries: the international cascade genetic screening experience

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2023
Background: Hereditary breast and ovarian cancer and Lynch syndrome are associated with increased lifetime risk for common cancers. Offering cascade genetic testing to cancer-free relatives of individuals with HBOC or LS is a public health intervention ...

Herding Behavior and Decision-Making within the Middle – Class Residential Property Investments

open access: yesJurnal Akuntansi dan Keuangan, 2019
The main purpose of this study is to investigate the causality of the behavioral bias ‘herding’ that was traced down to both social and normative influences. An experimental method was developed to test 125 participants studying finance.
