Information-based objective functions for active data selection [PDF]
Learning can be made more efficient if we can actively select particularly salient data points. Within a Bayesian learning framework, objective functions are discussed that measure the expected informativeness of candidate measurements. Three alternative

We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction
This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.

Effective therapeutic targeting of CTNNB1‐mutant hepatoblastoma with WNTinib
WNTinib, a Wnt/CTNNB1 inhibitor, was tested in hepatoblastoma (HB) experimental models. It delayed tumor growth and improved survival in CTNNB1‐mutant in vivo models. In organoids, WNTinib outperformed cisplatin and showed enhanced efficacy in combination therapy, supporting its potential as a targeted treatment for CTNNB1‐mutated HB.

Examining the segment retention problem for the “Group Satellite” case [PDF]
The purpose of this work is to determine how well, criteria designed to help the selection of the adequate number of market segments, perform in recovering small niche segments, in mixture regressions of normal data, with experimental data.

Residual likelihood approach for asymmetric price relationship selection [PDF]
This study considers the problem of asymmetric price transmission model selection and investigates the performance of the recently developed model selection criteria (RIC) against commonly used alternatives (AIC and BIC) in terms of their ability to ...

Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.

Model Selection Criteria in Multivariate Models with Multiple Structural Changes [PDF]
This paper considers the issue of selecting the number of regressors and the number of structural breaks in multivariate regression models in the possible presence of mul- tiple structural changes.
