Issues in multi-media information networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
In an integrated service environment, where users exchange various types of aural and visual information, networks should appear friendly to its users providing tools for management of multi-media information.

Health Information Exchange in Emergency Medical Services

open access: yesApplied Clinical Informatics, 2018
Background The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology has outlined the benefits of health information exchange in emergency medical services (EMSs) according to the SAFR model—search, alert, file, and reconcile—developed in ...

Developing evidence‐based, cost‐effective P4 cancer medicine for driving innovation in prevention, therapeutics, patient care and reducing healthcare inequalities

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The cancer problem is increasing globally with projections up to the year 2050 showing unfavourable outcomes in terms of incidence and cancer‐related deaths. The main challenges are prevention, improved therapeutics resulting in increased cure rates and enhanced health‐related quality of life.

CUSTOMS PAYMENTS: TRENDS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF CUSTOMS ADMINISTRATION IN RUSSIA IN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE EURASIAN CUSTOMS UNION (EACU)

open access: yesФинансы: теория и практика, 2018
The authors put forward and consistently proved the hypothesis that changes in the structure of international trade (the development of electronic commerce, the active implementation of electronic cross-border payments), its legal regulation (the WTO ...

Hospitals’ adoption of intra-system information exchange is negatively associated with inter-system information exchange

open access: yesJ. Am. Medical Informatics Assoc., 2018
Introduction U.S. policy on interoperable HIT has focused on increasing inter-system (ie, between different organizations) health information exchange. However, interoperable HIT also supports the movement of information within the same organization (ie,

Diffusion‐based size determination of solute particles: a method adapted for postsynaptic proteins

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We present a diffusion‐based approach for measuring the size of macromolecules and their complexes, and demonstrate its use on postsynaptic proteins. The method requires fluorescein‐labelled protein samples, a microfluidic device that maintains laminar flow for said samples, a microscope recording the emitted fluorescent signals, and an analytic ...

Identification of amino acids essential for angulin‐1/3 binding of the tricellular tight junction binder, angubindin‐1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Angubindin‐1 binds angulin‐1/‐3 at tricellular tight junctions, enhancing intestinal macromolecule permeation. Alanine scanning identified six essential residues (L562, L598, E638, V640, Y643, and K644) of angubindin‐1 critical for binding to angulin‐1/‐3 and permeation‐enhancing activity, providing insights for the development of targeted noninvasive ...

Electrical pulse stimulation reflecting the episodic nature of real‐life exercise modulates metabolic and secretory profile of primary human myotubes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Here, we introduced an intermittent electrical stimulation protocol mimicking the episodic nature of real‐life exercise in vitro by alternating low‐ and high‐frequency stimulation. In comparison with widely used continuous stimulation, it enhanced the rate of glucose and fatty acid oxidation, but not the myokine release.

A general model for analysis of linear and hyperbolic enzyme inhibition mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We developed a general enzyme kinetic model that integrates these six basic inhibition mechanism onto a single one. From this model, we deduced a general enzyme kinetic equation that through modulation of simple parameters, γ (the relative inhibitor affinity for two binding sites) and β (the reactivity of the enzyme–substrate–inhibitor complex), is ...
