Event extraction based on open information extraction and ontology [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
The work presented in this master thesis consists of extracting a set of events from texts written in natural language. For this purpose, we have based ourselves on the basic notions of the information extraction as well as the open information extraction.

An analytical study of information extraction from unstructured and multidimensional big data

open access: yesJournal of Big Data, 2019
Process of information extraction (IE) is used to extract useful information from unstructured or semi-structured data. Big data arise new challenges for IE techniques with the rapid growth of multifaceted also called as multidimensional unstructured ...

Information extraction and evaluation [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 5th conference on Message understanding - MUC5 '93, 1993
This topic session focussed on a variety of issues in evaluation (three presentations) and extraction (one presentation). For the extraction presentation, Tsuyoshi Kitani, a visiting researcher at the Center for Machine Translation at Carnegie-Mellon University gave a presention entitled "Overview of TEXTRACT Template-Filling Solutions". This talk gave

On-demand information extraction [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the COLING/ACL on Main conference poster sessions -, 2006
At present, adapting an Information Extraction system to new topics is an expensive and slow process, requiring some knowledge engineering for each new topic. We propose a new paradigm of Information Extraction which operates 'on demand' in response to a user's query.

Cell‐free and extracellular vesicle microRNAs with clinical utility for solid tumors

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cell‐free microRNAs (cfmiRs) are small‐RNA circulating molecules detectable in almost all body biofluids. Innovative technologies have improved the application of cfmiRs to oncology, with a focus on clinical needs for different solid tumors, but with emphasis on diagnosis, prognosis, cancer recurrence, as well as treatment monitoring.

KRAS and GNAS mutations in cell‐free DNA and in circulating epithelial cells in patients with intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms—an observational pilot study

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that KRAS and GNAS mutations are more prevalent in patients with resected intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMN) compared to those under clinical surveillance. GNAS mutations significantly differ between the two patient cohorts, indicating that their absence may serve as a potential biomarker to support conservative ...

Pattern Matching and Discourse Processing in Information Extraction from Japanese Text [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Artificial Intelligence Research, Vol 2, (1994), 89-110, 1994
Information extraction is the task of automatically picking up information of interest from an unconstrained text. Information of interest is usually extracted in two steps. First, sentence level processing locates relevant pieces of information scattered throughout the text; second, discourse processing merges coreferential information to generate the

On‐treatment dynamics of circulating extracellular vesicles in the first‐line setting of patients with advanced non‐small cell lung cancer: the LEXOVE prospective study

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LEXOVE prospective study evaluated plasma cell‐free extracellular vesicle (cfEV) dynamics using Bradford assay and dynamic light scattering in metastatic non‐small cell lung cancer patients undergoing first‐line treatments, correlating a ∆cfEV < 20% with improved median progression‐free survival in responders versus non‐responders.

Ontologies and Information Extraction

open access: yes, 2006
This report argues that, even in the simplest cases, IE is an ontology-driven process. It is not a mere text filtering method based on simple pattern matching and keywords, because the extracted pieces of texts are interpreted with respect to a predefined partial domain model.

Cellular liquid biopsy provides unique chances for disease monitoring, preclinical model generation and therapy adjustment in rare salivary gland cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We quantified and cultured circulating tumor cells (CTCs) of 62 patients with various cancer types and generated CTC‐derived tumoroid models from two salivary gland cancer patients. Cellular liquid biopsy‐derived information enabled molecular genetic assessment of systemic disease heterogeneity and functional testing for therapy selection in both ...
