Information Filter for Ambiguous Information Retrieval

2008 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Conference on Web Intelligence and Intelligent Agent Technology, 2008
The quick spread of web services has triggered the flood of information, and requests people to choose a valid set of queries for useful information retrieval in order to extract what they really need. In actual, however, appropriate query generation is recognized as one of the advanced tasks, and an information retrieval system that allows ambiguous ...

INFORMATION FILTERING FOR EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT

Cybernetics and Systems, 2003
Information filtering is an intelligent function that selects the relevant messages and items of use or interest to the user from a large amount of incoming information. This function has become very important for the rapid development of network technology. This article focuses on information filtering for the management of emergency situations.

Information and filtering

Information Sciences, 1979
Abstract The joint information between a signal at the present and past observation values is calculated in the discrete-time case for a general nonlinear filtering problem. A steady-state condition on the nullity of the above information rate is used to derive sharp lower bounds for the sensor error covariance.

Distributed information filtering using consensus filters

2009 American Control Conference, 2009
In this paper we present a new information consensus filter for distributed dynamic-state estimation. Estimation is handled by the traditional information filter, while communication of measurements is handled by a consensus filter. First and second-order statistics of local estimates are discussed.

Fuzzy multilingual information filtering

The 12th IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems, 2003. FUZZ '03., 2004
An emerging requirement to sift through the increasing flood of multilingual text available electronically has led to the pressing demand for effective multilingual information filtering. In this paper, a content-based approach to multilingual information filtering is proposed. This approach is capable of screening and evaluating multilingual documents

The anatomy of a multimodal information filter

Proceedings of the ninth ACM SIGKDD international conference on Knowledge discovery and data mining - KDD '03, 2003
The proliferation of objectionable information on the Internet has reached a level of serious concern. To empower end-users with the choice of blocking undesirable and offensive websites, we propose a multimodal information filter, named MORF. In this paper, we present MORF's core components: its confidence-based classifier, a Cross-bagging ensemble ...

Effects of Information Filters

International Journal of Information Retrieval Research, 2012
In the Internet era, information processing for personalization and relevance has been one of the key topics of research and development. It ranges from design of applications like search engines, web crawlers, learning engines to reverse image searches, audio processed search, auto complete, etc. Information retrieval plays a vital role in most of the

Information filtering in resonant neurons

Journal of Computational Neuroscience, 2015
Neuronal information transmission is frequency specific. In single cells, a band-pass like frequency preference can arise from the subthreshold dynamics of the membrane potential, shaped by properties of the cell's membrane and its ionic channels. In these cases, a cell is termed resonant and its membrane impedance spectrum exhibits a peak at non ...

Union and Intersection of Filtering Functions for Information Filtering

2004
In our previous works, to establish mathematical foundation of information filtering, we defined the notion of filtering function that represents filtering as a function, and clarified the characteristics of filtering. The constructed mathematical foundation makes it possible to qualitatively evaluate various filtering methods, to optimize processing ...
