The Global Information Infrastructure
Information Systems Management, 1996The Internet offers many resources, but its lack of robustness in service, security, and reliability renders it an interim solution to a true global information infrastructure (GII) that supports worldwide commerce. The development of such an infrastructure depends on more than improvements in technology however; for the Gll to be commercially robust ...

Ubiquitous information infrastructure for rescue
Proceedings of the 41st SICE Annual Conference. SICE 2002., 2003In this paper, we propose an information infrastructure for the victim search system in rescue activity. We have developed an intelligent data carrier (IDC) system that enables one to provide the environment with information storage, sensing, and processing functionality. Each IDC unit has its own CPU, memory and radio communication module.

Infrastructures for Information Technology Systems
2005 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man and Cybernetics, 2006The existing definitions for infrastructure notion do not seem to completely capture its impact, outreach, and the importance of entities it represents. Thorough understanding of the concept is necessary if we are to develop long-lasting adaptive infrastructures, which can handle the continuously increasing service demands and threats.
