A Construction Method of Covert Channel Based on File Storage Distribution [PDF]

open access: yesJisuanji gongcheng, 2017
A covert channel construction method based on covert information storage distribution is proposed to solve the problem that the existing reference length covert channels are different from legal channels in the channel entropy and length distribution ...

Risks of Undersizing Stent Retriever Length Relative to Thrombus Length in Patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke.

open access: yes, 2021
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Results regarding the association of thrombus length, stent retriever length, and recanalization success in patients with acute ischemic stroke are inconsistent.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

An Information-Theoretic Framework for Evaluating Edge Bundling Visualization

open access: yesEntropy, 2018
Edge bundling is a promising graph visualization approach to simplifying the visual result of a graph drawing. Plenty of edge bundling methods have been developed to generate diverse graph layouts.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Probabilistic models of information retrieval based on measuring the divergence from randomness [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We introduce and create a framework for deriving probabilistic models of Information Retrieval. The models are nonparametric models of IR obtained in the language model approach.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Effects of Surrounding Information and Line Length on Text Comprehension from the Web

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Learning and Technology, 2002
The World Wide Web (Web) is becoming a popular medium for transmission of information and online learning. We need to understand how people comprehend information from the Web to design Web sites that maximize the acquisition of information.

On systematic variable length unordered codes

open access: yes, 2009
In an unordered code no codeword is contained in any other codeword. Unordered codes are all unidirectional error detecting (AUED) codes. In the binary case, it is well known that among all systematic codes with k information bits, Berger codes are ...

The Impact of Queue Length Information on Buffer Overflow in Parallel Queues [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We consider a system consisting of N parallel queues, served by one server. Time is slotted, and the server serves one of the queues in each time slot, according to some scheduling policy.
