Modeling Information Sources for Information Integration
1999A critical problem in building an information mediator is to design knowledge bases describing the contents of information sources. Concepts which capture abstractions in information sources and which are usable to describe their content must be identified.

Information in Crowds: The Swarm Information Model
2006One interesting view of crowd modelling is the consideration of crowd effects as being generated from the point of view of individual agents By modelling individual decisions of agents (rather than generalizing from a population of identical ones) we can represent the heterogeneity inherent in large crowds The heterogeneous approach allows for ...

Models for Superimposed Information
1999The ubiquitous World Wide Web presents a simple interface for a vast array of heterogeneous information. We see the Web as one enabler for what we call superimposed information. Superimposed information serves to highlight, annotate, connect and supplement information in a base information space.

Future Generation Computer Systems, 2015
The NOVI Information Model (IM) and the corresponding data models are the glue between the software components in the NOVI Service Layer. The IM enables the communication among the various components of the NOVI Architecture and supports the various functionalities it offers.

On consistency of information models
BIT, 1981During the last years a number of approaches to information modeling have been presented. An information model is then assumed to be expressed in some formalism based on a set of basic concepts and construction rules. Some approaches also include inference rules, but few include consistency criteria for information models.

Proceedings of the 30th international on Design automation conference - DAC '93, 1993
This paper introduces a modelling framework for capturing the semantics of VLSI CAD design objects. It summarizes the EXPRESS modelling language which has been used to model the EDIF Information Model. The model presented here, which supports existence-dependency, multiple levels of abstraction, hierarchical decomposition and connectivity, provides a ...

AN ORDINAL INFORMATION RETRIEVAL MODEL
International Journal of Uncertainty, Fuzziness and Knowledge-Based Systems, 2001In this paper an ordinal Information Retrieval model is proposed, which is formalised within fuzzy set theory and is based on the notion of linguistic granules of information. Linguistic expressions are defined to represent and manage the importance of both the index terms as descriptors of the information items and the query terms (content selectors)

Proceedings of the 2nd International Conference on Computing for Geospatial Research & Applications - COM.Geo '11, 2011
Using digital design models has been a common practice in the manufacturing industry for decades. Project teams at companies such as Boeing and Toyota have placed digital models at the core of their collaborative, concurrent engineering processes.

Dynamic Information Retrieval Modeling
Proceedings of the Eighth ACM International Conference on Web Search and Data Mining, 2014In Dynamic Information Retrieval modeling we model dynamic systems which change or adapt over time or a sequence of events using a range of techniques from artificial intelligence and reinforcement learning. Many of the open problems in current IR research can be described as dynamic systems, for instance, session search or computational advertising ...

Information Intensive Modeling
MIS Quarterly, 1987The interaction of formal information systems and organizational decision models will be examined in this article. It is conjectured that decision models and processes not only determine the information requirements, but that they are influenced by the organizational information systems that are designed to support them.
