Time Toxicity in Wilms Tumor: Quantifying the Burden of Healthcare Interaction in the First Year After Diagnosis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Wilms tumor (WT) treatment imposes a significant time burden on patients and their families. Time toxicity is a patient‐centered metric that quantifies the burden of healthcare interaction. We sought to define time toxicity in the first year after diagnosis of WT and hypothesized that it would increase as tumor stage and treatment ...

Heterogeneity in the Global Practice of Central Nervous System Staging in Pediatric Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Central nervous system (CNS) involvement in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is assessed by cell counting and cytomorphology from cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and is used for treatment stratification worldwide. The ratio of “CNS2” patients in clinical trials ranges from 3% to 40%, with unclear prognostic significance ...

Autoregressive Time-Varying Flat-Fading Channels: Model Order and Information Rate Bounds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper, we study the effect of channel memory order on the information rate bounds in time-varying flat-fading (FF) channels. We model time variations of the FF channel with autoregressive (AR) processes with varying degrees of model order.

Emapalumab for Immune Effector Cell‐Associated Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis‐Like Syndrome Following CD19‐Directed CAR‐T in Two Patients With B‐ALL: Clinical and Biomarker Correlates

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Immune effector cell‐associated hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis‐like syndrome (IEC‐HS) is a life‐threatening hyperinflammatory toxicity distinct from cytokine release syndrome (CRS) and neurotoxicity following chimeric antigen receptor T‐cell (CAR‐T) therapy. In a single‐institution retrospective cohort of pediatric and young adult patients

Executive Information System Modelling to Monitor Indonesian Criminal Rate

open access: yesCommIT Journal, 2016
Similar to any other governments, Indonesia government has the role of protecting the security of its citizens via the established police unit. However, the executive unit is often unable to provide response in timely manner due to the huge data size ...

Weighted information and entropy rates

open access: yesCoRR, 2016
The weighted entropy $H^{\rm w}_ϕ(X)=H^{\rm w}_ϕ(f)$ of a random variable $X$ with values $x$ and a probability-mass/density function $f$ is defined as the mean value ${\mathbb E} I^{\rm w}_ϕ(X)$ of the weighted information $I^{\rm w}_ϕ(x)=-ϕ(x)\log\,f(x)$.

Increased Risk of Sarcomas in Children With Congenital Anomalies: Findings From the Genetic Overlap Between Anomalies and Cancer in Kids (GOBACK) Registry Linkage Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Pediatric sarcomas are a heterogeneous group of tumors that contribute disproportionately to cancer mortality in children. Although congenital anomalies are among the strongest known risk factors for childhood cancer, the risk of specific sarcoma subtypes among affected individuals has not yet been thoroughly evaluated. Procedure We

Bank Interest Margins under Information Asymmetry and Centralized vs. Decentralized Loan Rate Decisions:A Two-Stage Option Pricing Model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The behavior of outside portfolio managers of large money-center banks as analyzed to date is silent. In a centralized loan portfolio construction with decentralized loan portfolio management, changes in the bank’s degree of capital market imperfection ...

Quantum speed limits and the maximal rate of information production

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2020
The Bremermann-Bekenstein bound sets a fundamental upper limit on the rate with which information can be processed. However, the original treatment heavily relies on cosmological properties and plausibility arguments.

A paradox concerning rate of information

open access: yesInformation and Control, 1958
A natural definition of the rate of transmission of information is given, arising out of the usual theory. We call it the “Riemannian” rate of transmission. It is shown that the definition leads to a paradox if taken in conjunction with the notion of (time-unlimited) band-limited white noise.
