Integrated Sensing, Communication, and Computing: An Information-oriented Resource Transaction Mechanism [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Information acquisition from target perception represents the key enabling technology of the Internet of Automatic Vehicles (IoAV), which is essential for the decision-making and control operation of connected automatic vehicles (CAVs). Exploring target information involves multiple operations on data, e.g., wireless sensing (for data acquisition ...

An approach for coherent periodogram averaging of tilt‐series data for improved contrast transfer function estimation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The contrast transfer function (CTF) is an imaging aberration that is a major resolution‐limiting factor in cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM). Precise CTF estimation is key to overcoming this limitation, but is particularly challenging in cryo‐electron tomography (cryo‐ET) data. Here, we present an approach for using geometric information to assist in

Theory for Optimal Estimation and Control under Resource Limitations and Its Applications to Biological Information Processing and Decision-Making [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Despite being optimized, the information processing of biological organisms exhibits significant variability in its complexity and capability. One potential source of this diversity is the limitation of resources required for information processing.

Knockout of the mitoribosome rescue factors Ict1 or Mtrfr is viable in zebrafish but not mice: compensatory mechanisms underlying each factor's loss

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Mitochondria contain two mitoribosome rescue factors, ICT1 and MTRFR (C12orf65). ICT1 also functions as a mitoribosomal protein in mice and humans, and its loss is lethal. Although Mtrfr knockout mice could not be generated, knockout zebrafish lines for ict1 and mtrfr were established.

Visualisation of the information resources for cell biology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Intelligent multimodal interfaces can facilitate scientists in utilising available information resources. Combining scientific visualisations with interactive and intelligent tools can help create a “habitable” information space.
