Regional Differences in the Direct and Indirect Impacts of China's Urbanization Process on Vegetation

open access: yesEarth and Space Science
Urbanization profoundly influences urban vegetation dynamics. Variations in development stages lead to differing direct (vegetation loss) and indirect (vegetation growth) impacts across old urban areas, new urban areas, and suburban, with unclear ...

Ocean Surface Wind Field Retrieval Simultaneously Using SAR Backscatter and Doppler Shift Measurements

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Sea surface wind retrieval methods using synthetic aperture radar (SAR) are generally classified into two categories: the direct inversion method and the variational analysis method (VAM).

PARK(ing) time–How park deficiency affects the biological clock in a Drosophila model of Parkinson's disease

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Drosophila park mutants serve as a model for Parkinson's disease. We used this strain to investigate the connection between oxidative stress and the circadian clock mechanism. We showed that increased oxidative stress affects the physiology of pacemaker cells, disrupting their daily structural plasticity. Lack of rhythmic signaling from pacemaker cells

Information Geometry of Risks and Returns

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2022
We reveal a geometric structure underlying both hedging and investment products. The structure follows from a simple formula expressing investment risks in terms of returns. This informs optimal product designs. Optimal pure hedging (including cost-optimal products) and hybrid hedging (where a partial hedge is built into an optimal investment product ...

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

The Establishment and Verification of a Velocity Doppler Transfer Model for Dual-Beam Squint Airborne SAR

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Measuring ocean currents is essential for oceanographic studies, and dual-beam squint airborne SAR measurements provide significant advantages, including flexibility, cost-effectiveness, and extensive coverage.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Investigating the Impact of Species Diversity on the Carbon Sequestration Potential of Forest Vegetation Based on Solar-Induced Chlorophyll Fluorescence

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Forest species diversity plays a critical role in regulating vegetation carbon sequestration potential. However, the mechanisms by which species diversity influences carbon dynamics under varying forest conditions are not yet fully understood.
