Capacity of Clustered Distributed Storage [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
A new system model reflecting the clustered structure of distributed storage is suggested to investigate bandwidth requirements for repairing failed storage nodes. Large data centers with multiple racks/disks or local networks of storage devices (e.g. sensor network) are good applications of the suggested clustered model.

Stochastic variation in the FOXM1 transcription program mediates replication stress tolerance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cellular heterogeneity is a major cause of drug resistance in cancer. Segeren et al. used single‐cell transcriptomics to investigate gene expression events that correlate with sensitivity to the DNA‐damaging drugs gemcitabine and prexasertib. They show that dampened expression of transcription factor FOXM1 and its target genes protected cells against ...

High efficiency photonic storage of single photons in cold atoms [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
An efficient quantum storage is highly desired for quantum information processing. As indicated by certain applications, a universal quantum storage is required to have a storage efficiency above 50% to beat the no-cloning limit. Although significant progress has been achieved in improving various quantum storage, the best storage efficiency of single ...

Information Storage Material, Magnetic

open access: yes, 1995
Magnetic recording is the storage of information achieved through changing the magnetization of a recording medium using a magnetic field generated by the recording head. At the end of the nineteenth century a start was made to use magnetism and magnetic media to store information.

Targeting PRAME directly or via EZH2 inhibition overcomes retinoid resistance and represents a novel therapy for keratinocyte carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The study evaluated the function and therapeutic implications of PRAME in basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). The findings demonstrate that PRAME impairs keratinocyte differentiation pathways. Furthermore, PRAME impairs anticancer response to retinoid compounds in BCC and SCC cells.

Cooperation and Competition among Energy Storages [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
We study competition and cooperation among a group of storage units. We show that as the number of storages increases, the profit of storages approaches zero under Nash competition. We propose two ways in which storages can achieve non-zero profit and show that they are optimal in the sense that storages achieve the maximum possible profit.
