Private Information Retrieval from Heterogeneous Uncoded Storage Constrained Databases with Reduced Sub-Messages [PDF]
We propose capacity-achieving schemes for private information retrieval (PIR) from uncoded databases (DBs) with both homogeneous and heterogeneous storage constraints. In the PIR setting, a user queries a set of DBs to privately download a message, where privacy implies that no one DB can infer which message the user desires.

Searching the Internet and Assessing Information Quality
Teaching search skills is often considered unnecessary for the current generation of incoming dental students. While it is true that the degree of computer literacy for incoming students is gradually rising, on the other hand even basic knowledge about ...

Storage Allocation for Multi-Class Distributed Data Storage Systems [PDF]
Distributed storage systems (DSSs) provide a scalable solution for reliably storing massive amounts of data coming from various sources. Heterogeneity of these data sources often means different data classes (types) exist in a DSS, each needing a different level of quality of service (QoS).

Design of University Library and Information Management System Based on Big Data Fusion
In order to improve the ability of library and information management in colleges and universities, and improve intelligent retrieval level of books, a design method of library information management system is proposed based on big data fusion. The phase

A brief description of the Medical Information Computer System (MEDICS) [PDF]
The Medical Information Computer System (MEDICS) is a time shared, disk oriented minicomputer system capable of meeting storage and retrieval needs for the space- or non-space-related applications of at least 16 simultaneous users.

Management information and the organization: Homily from the experience of the data rich but information poor [PDF]
Calvin Mooers's Law has long been one of my favorites. I often use it as an excuse for irrational behavior in library management. Over twenty years ago, Calvin Mooers commented: "An information retrieval system will tend not to be used whenever it is ...

Symmetric Private Information Retrieval For MDS Coded Distributed Storage [PDF]
A user wants to retrieve a file from a database without revealing the identity of the file retrieved at the database, which is known as the problem of private information retrieval (PIR). If it is further required that the user obtains no information about the database other than the desired file, the concept of symmetric private information retrieval (
