Storage and Retrieval of Information

1991
Offices have lots of paperwork — the paperless office is still a long way off even with today’s computerised systems. Letters and documents cannot be put away anyhow. They need to be stored away safely and in some sort of order so they can be found quickly and easily when required.

Microcomputers for information storage and retrieval

The Electronic Library, 1983
Information storage and retrieval (ISR) is a concept associated with large quantities of information stored in relatively sizable (and therefore, costly) computers and which requires relatively extensive software to accommodate the whole process. Generally, the connection between software and hardware is extremely strong; i.e., a particular Information

Storage And Retrieval Of Quantum Information

Workshop on Physics and Computation, 2005
Information encoded in non-orthogonal quantum states cannot be duplicated, nor amplified, and in general at is only partly recoverable. The most efficient way of retrieving it is not a direct uquantum measurement” (as defined by von Neumann), but an indirect method similar to heterodyne detection in communications engineering.

Mechanized storage and retrieval of information

1977
The inherited metabolic diseases present special problems of management: their rarity means that if the approximately 2000 cases likely to occur each year in the United Kingdom were evenly distributed among its 360 paediatricians, each would see only eight cases annually, and even if all cases in a given teaching area were attended by a single ...

Storage and retrieval of multimedia information

AIP Conference Proceedings, 1993
In this paper, we propose a clustered superimposed coding signature file that can be used for indexing multimedia documents including text and image data. Signatures are partitioned dynamically based on Indexed Extendible Hashing scheme, and as a result only a subset of signature partitions are searched to answer a retrieval query.

The Storage and Retrieval of Information

1978
The use of the computer as a tool for information processing has been stressed throughout this book. Ready access to information is an essential prerequisite to its rapid processing by the computer — and for this reason much work has gone into the development of large-capacity and rapid-access storage devices. In these efforts to store away information

A sleep information storage and retrieval system (SISAR)

Computers in Biology and Medicine, 1974
Abstract A large-scale information storage and retrieval system implemented for the processing and analysis of human sleep EEG data is described. It contains programs which facilitate data entry and updating, error checking and corection, report generation, statistical computations, data retrieval, data protection and the establishment and management
