A brief introduction to data storage and retrieval in MERLIN (MachinE Readable Library INformation)
This document describes, briefly, the techniques employed in the MERLIN database 10 store and retrieve bibliographic data. An explanation of the choice of value related storage is given, with an indication of the merits of this approach both for data management (cataloguing) and retrieval (searching).

Storage and Retrieval of Data from Drug Information Requests Using a Mumps-Based Information System
The storage, retrieval, and dissemination of information constitutes a major function of any drug information service (DIS). We developed a computerized system for the storage and retrieval of data from drug information requests (DIR) using a MUMPS-based information system.

The definition of objectives and question of interpretation must be considered when setting up data banks. The objective will determine the type of data to be collected. A hierarchy of data-processing systems exists where the amount of interpretation in the data increases as the order of the system increases. The remarkable continuity of basic data can

A post processing algorithm called matrix-method deconvolution (MMD) was created that makes it possible to extract binary information from optical data storage beyond the limits of the Rayleigh criterion. The method was designed for use with an optical memory system that reads and writes binary information in a nanocomposite material consisting of ...

Information storage and effective data retrieval in sparse matrices
Neural Networks, 1989Abstract A variation of a serial implementation of an associative memory network is considered. The memory is represented by a matrix-scheme with an extremely clipped Hebb-like synaptic rule. The analysis of the coding parameters shows that the proposed algorithm works faster than conventional approaches, provided that the patterns are extremely ...

In distributed environments, entities are distributed among different security domains and they do not have prior knowledge of one another. In this setting, distributed systems and their security components such as entities, certificates, credentials, policies and trust values are dynamic and constantly changing.
