System management information modeling
IEEE Communications Magazine, 1993An overview of Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) modeling principles and concepts as contained in the systems management information model is presented. Object-oriented modeling principles as applied to OSI systems management are reviewed. The notions of inheritance, compatibility, and allomorphism are included.

Modeling Information Manufacturing Systems to Determine Information Product Quality
Management Science, 1998Many of the concepts and procedures of product quality control can be applied to the problem of producing better quality information outputs. From this perspective, information outputs can be viewed as information products, and many information systems can be modeled as information manufacturing systems.

Computer-based information systems models
Journal of Medical Systems, 1985A synthesis of theories from the management information systems (MIS) field provided the conceptual framework to describe how to design and develop effective computer-based information systems. An analysis of activities and interviews with nurse managers in a tertiary care medical center provided the basis for describing five major nursing department ...

Modeling Health Information Systems
2010Modeling HIS is an important precondition for their management: What we cannot describe, we usually cannot manage adequately. After defining the concepts necessary for dealing with this chapter, we will present some types of information system models describing different aspects of HIS.

ConceptBase: Managing Conceptual Models about Information Systems
1998ConceptBase is a meta data management system intended to support the cooperative development and evolution of information systems with multiple interacting formalisms. It supports a simple logic-based core language, O-Telos, which integrates deductive and object-oriented features in order to support the syntactical, graphical, and semantic ...

Reservoir Model Information System: REMIS
SPIE Proceedings, 2009We describe a novel data visualization framework named Reservoir Model Information System (REMIS) for the display of complex and multi-dimensional data sets in oil reservoirs. It is aimed at facilitating visual exploration and analysis of data sets as well as user collaboration in an easier way.

Modeling Complex Information Systems
2013We are living in an information society. For us it is normal to access relevant information almost immediately. In our world, information systems play an important role in our private as well as in our professional lives. When selecting or developing such systems, especially complex ones, we need to understand and model the requirements on these ...

Modeling management information systems' success
Proceedings of the South African Institute for Computer Scientists and Information Technologists Conference, 2012Capacity in and enhancement of critical, scarce and intermediate skills are seen as a national priority in South Africa. The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) in South Africa has prioritized the success of the Further Education and Training (FET) sector to meet this need for capacity development in critical, scarce and intermediate ...

In the previous chapter, we saw that the objective of the NIAM method of information analysis is the specification of the grammar. Before taking up the question of how the grammar has to be specified, we must first get an idea of how the information exchange with the information system takes place.
