An Information-Theoretic Approach to Generalization Theory

open access: yesCoRR
We investigate the in-distribution generalization of machine learning algorithms. We depart from traditional complexity-based approaches by analyzing information-theoretic bounds that quantify the dependence between a learning algorithm and the training data.

General Information Product Theory in Economics Science [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2015
The information, including the knowledge in the science, business and society, is being generated, transmitted, received and analyzed by the humans in the various countries for many centuries. The generated information can be structured, coded, stored and retrieved, representing a most valuable asset in possession by the acting economic agents in the ...

Experience With Performing Rheocarna Therapy via the Single‐Needle Method for Treatment of Chronic Limb‐Threatening Ischemia

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction This study investigated the safety and efficacy of single‐needle Rheocarna therapy for chronic limb‐threatening ischemia (CLTI) with wounds. Methods Six patients with CLTI involving ulcers unresponsive to revascularization underwent single‐needle Rheocarna treatment.

A general theory to estimate Information transfer in nonlinear systems

open access: yesPhysica D: Nonlinear Phenomena, 2023
A general theory for computing information transfers in nonlinear stochastic systems driven by deterministic forcing and additive and/or multiplicative noises, is presented. It extends the Liang-Kleeman framework of causality inference to nonlinear cases based on information transfer across system variables (Liang, 2016). We present an effective method

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Quantum information theory and the foundations of quantum mechanics

open access: yes, 2004
This thesis is a contribution to the debate on the implications of quantum information theory for the foundational problems of quantum mechanics. In Part I an attempt is made to shed some light on the nature of information and quantum information theory.

Scaling behaviour and critical phase transitions in integrated information theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Integrated Information Theory proposes a measure of conscious activity (Phi), characterised as the irreducibility of a dynamical system to the sum of its components. Due to its computational cost, current versions of the theory (IIT 3.0) are difficult to

Towards a Transdisciplinary Frame: Bridging Domains, a Multidimensional Approach to Information

open access: yestripleC: Communication, Capitalism & Critique, 2011
A trans-disciplinary frame is proposed, aimed at addressing the very understanding of information in all its variety. It aims at unifying perspectives and integrating techniques from different fields of knowledge and practice, searching for the most ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Information Ecology in the Context of General Ecology

open access: yes, 2018
The ecological approach studied in this paper is a new level of information studies. It allows for achieving a better understanding of information processes in society as well as more efficient creation of information processing systems.
