Metagenomic mining reveals novel Cas12 subtypes and their evolutionary diversification

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
We identified 4112 Cas12 Proteins and 6 new Cas12 subtypes, revealed their significant diversity in N‐terminal regions, repeat sequences, and sequences motifs. We developed an AI‐driven algorithm, Cas12fam, which allows precise annotation of 18 distinct domains in Cas12 proteins.

Fast bootstrap and reliable readout using hidden references for DNA data storage

open access: yesiMeta, EarlyView.
This study provides a bootstrap readout framework for DNA data storage based on multiple‐fold hidden references. We employ a multi‐stage alignment and error correction strategy, transforming the de novo readout into a resequencing‐like workflow. Correlation to the hidden watermark reference identifies low‐error‐rate reads, and bit‐wise consensus ...

Flexible ionic pressure sensors: From migration‐electronic mechanisms to emerging iontronic paradigms

open access: yesInfoMat, EarlyView.
Mechanisms, materials, structures, and applications of the FIPSs. Abstract Flexible ionic pressure sensors (FIPS) have emerged as promising candidates for bridging the gap between electronics and biologically compatible interfaces. Unlike previous reviews, which focused primarily on materials or devices, this review presents a classification of FIPS ...

Informational Way to Protein Alphabet: Entropic Classification of Amino Acids

open access: yes, 2005
What are proteins made from, as the working parts of the living cells protein machines? To answer this question, we need a technology to disassemble proteins onto elementary func-tional details and to prepare lumped description of such details. This lumped description might have a multiple material realization (in amino acids).
