Light‐Guided Molecular Patterning for High‐Throughput Single‐Molecule Mechanical Characterization

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
A light‐guided molecular patterning method is presented for high‐throughput single‐molecule characterization. The approach enables scalable and accessible molecular patterning without specialized lithography equipment. Patterned surfaces are compatible with downstream biophysical assays, demonstrated by magnetic tweezers and flow‐based single‐molecule ...

Self‐Powered Neuromorphic Touch Sensors Based on Triboelectric Devices: Current Approaches and Open Challenges

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
This review outlines how triboelectric self‐powered tactile sensors can be integrated with neuromorphic devices to emulate human touch. It summarizes current coupling strategies, operational modes, and synaptic functions enabled by triboelectric nanogerator (TENG)‐based systems, while highlighting key mechanisms, performance considerations, and future ...

Plate tectonics in the microscopy realm: Molecular insights into morphological variability of Peridinium willei (Peridiniales, Dinophyceae)

open access: yesTAXON, EarlyView.
Abstract Freshwater Peridinium willei (Peridiniaceae) is globally distributed, but reports linking its morphologies with DNA sequence data remain scarce. The taxonomy of the species, and its infraspecific taxa, remain ambiguous due to the lack of DNA sequence data for the original and type material.

Loanwords and Linguistic Phylogenetics: *pelek̑u‐ ‘axe’ and *(H)a(i̯)g̑‐ ‘goat’1

open access: yesTransactions of the Philological Society, Volume 123, Issue 1, Page 116-136, March 2025.
Abstract This paper assesses the role of borrowings in two different approaches to linguistic phylogenetics: Traditional qualitative analyses of lexemes, and quantitative computational analysis of cognacy. It problematises the assumption that loanwords can be excluded altogether from datasets of lexical cognacy.

Civility, honour and male aggression in early modern English jestbooks

open access: yesGender &History, EarlyView.
Abstract This article discusses the comical representation of inter‐male violence within early modern English jestbooks. It is based on a rigorous survey of the genre, picking out common themes and anecdotes, as well as discussing their reception and sociable functions. Previous scholarship has focused on patriarchs, subversive youths and impoliteness.

Asymmetric Platform Oligopoly

open access: yesThe RAND Journal of Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We propose a tractable model of asymmetric platform oligopoly with logit demand in which users from two distinct groups are subject to within‐group and cross‐group network effects and decide which platform to join. We characterize the equilibrium when platforms manage user access by setting participation fees for each user group.
