Helminth communities of yellow perch (Perca flavescens (Mitchill)): determinants of pattern

open access: yes, 2000
Twenty-eight parasite species were recorded from 504 yellow perch (Perca flavescens) collected from Dauphin Lake and Beaufort Lake, Manitoba, and Lake Winnebago, Green Bay, and Lake Michigan, Wisconsin.

Similarity in parasite communities of the teleost fish Pinguipes brasilianus in the southwestern Atlantic: Infracommunities as a tool to detect geographical patterns [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Patterns of distance decay in similarity among communities of the fish Pinguipes brasilianus (Teleostei: Pinguipedidae) from five areas in the southwestern Atlantic were investigated to determine whether the rate of decay varied depending on the ...

Shift in parasite load in native and non-native Eupercarian fish species living in sympatry [PDF]

open access: yesNeoBiota
Non-native species have the potential to alter host community structure, which, in turn, may affect parasite transmission, diversity and distribution, particularly when the introduced host is ecologically or phylogenetically related to its native host(s).

[Infracommunity of parasite helminths of Ambystoma lernaensis (Caudata: Ambystomatidae) in Lerma, Mexico].

open access: yesRevista de biologia tropical, 2002
The helminth infracommunity structure was analyzed in 48 salamanders (Ambystoma lermaensis) from San Pedro Tlaltizapán, Lerma, Estado de Mexico (June 1997 to March 1999). Richness (2.46 +/- 1.8), abundance (29.5 +/- 42.3), and diversity (0.64 +/- 0.58) levels characterize these communities as depauperate, similar to other amphibian helminth communities

Factors affecting the component community structure of haemoparasites in bank voles (Clethrionomys glareolus) from the Mazury Lake District region of Poland [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The prevalence and abundance of infections with haemoparasites were studied over a 3 year period in Clethrionomys glareolus (bank vole, n=420) sampled from forests in the NE of Poland. Total species richness was 5 (Prevalence=Haemobartonella sp.

First glimpse into parasites of Arctic anadromous lake trout

open access: yesArctic Science
Partial anadromy, where some individuals remain in freshwater while others migrate to sea, is common at northern latitudes. These life history differences can have ecological consequences impacting the parasite infracommunity, as parasite exposure varies

Parasite communities of icefish (Chionodraco hamatus) in the Ross Sea (Antarctica): influence of the host sex on the helminth infracommunity structure.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Parasite communities of Chionodraco hamatus were investigated from Terra Nova Bay (Ross Sea, Antarctica) during host spawning time. Special attention was given to helminth infracommunities and effect of host sex on its structure.

Factors affecting helminths community structure of the Egyptian lizard Chalcides ocellatus (Forskal, 1775)

open access: yesParasite, 2005
The variation in the component community structure of intestinal helminths in the lizard Chalcides ocellatus (Forskal, 1775) was studied in relation to the seasonal variation and host weight and sex. 120 lizards were collected seasonally during year 2004,

Comparative population biology of fish digenes : the case of three

open access: yes, 2016
In the Etang de Thau (Herault, France), three species of Helicometra parasitize in their adult stage the digestive tract of the black goby Gobius niger, the grass goby Zosterisessor ophiocephalus, the grey wrasse Symphodus cinereus, and the common eel ...

Composition and structure of helminth communities in eels Anguilla anguilla from Italian coastal lagoons

open access: yes, 1997
The composition and diversity of total and intestinal helminth component and infracommunities were determined in eels Anguilla anguilla from four shallow coastal lagoons near Rome. The lagoons differed principally in respect of their salinity.
