Associations among MHC genes, latitude, and avian malaria infections in the rufous-collared sparrow (Zonotrichia capensis). [PDF]

We investigated MHC gene associations with Plasmodium and Haemoproteus infections in South American rufous‐collared sparrows across a latitudinal gradient, finding non‐linear associations between MHC‐II diversity and latitude, with individuals from north Chile exhibiting lower genetic diversity.
