Fusion of Infrared and Visible Images for Face Recognition

2004
A number of studies have demonstrated that infrared (IR) imagery offers a promising alternative to visible imagery due to it’s insensitive to variations in face appearance caused by illumination changes. IR, however, has other limitations including that it is opaque to glass.

DRF: Disentangled Representation for Visible and Infrared Image Fusion

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2021
In this article, we propose a novel decomposition method by applying disentangled representation for visible and infrared image fusion (DRF). According to the imaging principle, we perform the decomposition depending on the source of information in the visible and infrared images.

A three scale image transformation for infrared and visible image fusion

2017 20th International Conference on Information Fusion (Fusion), 2017
Infrared and visible image fusion is an active area in digital image processing. Many methods in spatial or transform domains have been proposed, but there are still several complex challenges. In this paper, we introduce a three-scale image transformation, which possesses multi-scale, translation-invariance and spatial-localization characteristics ...

Denoiser Learning for Infrared and Visible Image Fusion

IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems
Infrared image (IR) and visible image (VI) fusion creates fusion images that contain richer information and gain improved visual effects. Existing methods generally use the operators of manual design, such as intensity and gradient operators, to mine the image information.

A new color image fusion method for visible and infrared images

2007 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Biomimetics (ROBIO), 2007
A novel color fusion method for visible and infrared (IR) images is presented in this paper. The visible image is fused with the original infrared image and the reverse polarity of infrared (IIR) image by a grayscale fusion scheme based on curvelet transformation, respectively. These two fused results are the red and blue space of the final fused image.

Fusion of Infrared and Visible Images Using 2DPCA Bases

2013 2nd IAPR Asian Conference on Pattern Recognition, 2013
In this paper, an image fusion method based on two-dimensional principal component analysis (2DPCA) is proposed. The proposed method adopts 2DPCA to trans-form infrared and visible images into feature domain. Then, extracted features are divided into principal part and minor part based on their importance.
