INFRARED DETECTORS [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Engineering Science (Chişinău), 2018
Infrared detectors have wide application in a range of industry sectors, including defence, astronomy, medicine, environmental safety, and remote sensing. The applications requiring the highest sensitivity over a broad spectrum of wavelengths are usually

Uranium Doped Gallium Nitride Epitaxial Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Uranium was controllably added to gallium nitride using molecular beam epitaxy. The uranium atoms segregated into vertically oriented regions with higher doping levels. Concentrations up to a few percent were achieved without showing significant degradation in the crystalline quality or optical characteristics. Low electrical resistivity was maintained

SMILES: A Prototype JWST Multiband Mid-infrared Survey

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The Mid-Infrared Instrument (MIRI) for JWST is supplied with a suite of imaging band-pass filters optimized for full spectral coverage in eight intermediate-width bands from 5 to 26 μ m and a narrower one at 11.3 μ m.

Variability of Jovian ion winds: an upper limit for enhanced Joule heating [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales Geophysicae, 2007
It has been proposed that short-timescale fluctuations about the mean electric field can significantly increase the upper atmospheric energy inputs at Jupiter, which may help to explain the high observed thermospheric temperatures.

Electric Field‐Induced Hole‐ and Electron‐Type Flat Bands in Twisted Double Bilayer Graphene

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
The electronic structure of twisted double bilayer graphene is visualized using angle‐resolved photoemission spectroscopy with micrometer spatial resolution at twists of 3.1∘$^\circ$ and 6.0∘$^\circ$ as a function of gate voltage. Tunable hybridization effects and flat band formation occurs between valence and conduction band states due to a finite ...

New infrared star clusters in the Northern and Equatorial Milky Way with 2MASS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We carried out a survey of infrared star clusters and stellar groups on the 2MASS J, H and K_s all-sky release Atlas in the Northern and Equatorial Milky Way (350 < l < 360, 0 < l < 230). The search in this zone complements that in the Southern Milky Way

Precise Measurements of the LMC Bar’s Geometry with Gaia DR3 and a Novel Solution to Crowding-induced Incompleteness in Star Counting

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We present new measurements of the 2D geometry of the LMC’s stellar bar with precise astrometric observations of red clump stars in Gaia DR3. We develop a novel solution to tackle crowding-induced incompleteness in Gaia data sets with the Gaia BP-RP ...

Jets in Low-Mass Protostars

open access: yesUniverse
Jets and outflows are key components of low-mass star formation, regulating accretion and shaping the surrounding molecular clouds. These flows, traced by molecular species at (sub)millimeter wavelengths (e.g., CO, SiO, SO, H2CO, and CH3OH) and by atomic,

Emergent Spectral Fluxes of Hot Jupiters: An Abrupt Rise in Dayside Brightness Temperature Under Strong Irradiation

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal, 2023
We study the emergent spectral fluxes of transiting hot Jupiters, using secondary eclipses from Spitzer. To achieve a large and uniform sample, we have reanalyzed all secondary eclipses for all hot Jupiters observed by Spitzer at 3.6 and/or 4.5 μ m.

Deep Learning‐Assisted Coherent Raman Scattering Microscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
The analytical capabilities of coherent Raman scattering microscopy are augmented through deep learning integration. This synergistic paradigm improves fundamental performance via denoising, deconvolution, and hyperspectral unmixing. Concurrently, it enhances downstream image analysis including subcellular localization, virtual staining, and clinical ...
