Detecting active black holes in dwarf galaxies has proven to be a challenge due to their small size and weak electromagnetic signatures. Mid-infrared variability has emerged as a promising tool that can be used to detect active low-mass black holes in ...

2 mm Observations and the Search for High-redshift Dusty Star-forming Galaxies
Finding high-redshift ( z ≫ 4) dusty star-forming galaxies is extremely challenging. It has recently been suggested that millimeter selections may be the best approach since the negative K-correction makes galaxies at a given far-infrared luminosity ...

The X-ray emission of local luminous infrared galaxies [PDF]
We study the X-ray emission of a representative sample of 27 local luminous infrared galaxies (LIRGs). The median IR luminosity of our sample is log L IR /L ⊙ = 11.2, therefore the low-luminosity end of the LIRG class is well represented. We used new XMM-

Oxychlorine Species on Mars: A Review
Abstract Oxychlorine species (mainly perchlorate and chlorate) have been identified at multiple locations on the surface of Mars by both orbiter and in situ rovers. They have also been found in martian meteorites. Cl‐isotopes in meteoritic minerals suggest that an oxychlorine cycle has been operating on the martian surface for the last ∼4 billion years.

Despite the ubiquity of clumpy star-forming galaxies at high-redshift, the origin of clumps are still largely unconstrained due to the limited observations that can validate the mechanisms for clump formation.

We present results of the Araucaria Project’s investigation of RR Lyrae stars as distance indicators in nearby galaxies. With an aid of near-infrared period-luminositymetallicity relations available in the literature we determined distance moduli to five

The impact of bars on the mid-infrared dust emission of spiral galaxies: global and circumnuclear properties [PDF]
We study the mid-infrared properties of a sample of 69 nearby spiral galaxies, selected to avoid Seyfert activity contributing a significant fraction of the central energetics, or strong tidal interaction, and to have normal infrared luminosities.
