Location of Saturn's northern infrared aurora determined from Cassini VIMS images [PDF]
The location of Saturn's northern infrared aurora is described in detail using 12 selected images acquired by Cassini VIMS during 2006–2008. Bright main oval arcs and prevalent polar features are displayed, which do not exhibit a preferred local time or ...

Contrast Enhancement in Images by Homomorphic Filtering and Cluster-Chaotic Optimization
Homomorphic filtering (HF) is a methodology that separates an image into two components: illumination and reflectance. Through the processing of these components, it is possible to significantly improve the contrast of the low-frequency components while ...

Compression of Infrared images [PDF]
This paper investigates the compression of infrared images with three codecs: JPEG2000, JPEG-XT and HEVC. Results are evaluated in terms of SNR, Mean Relative Squared Error (MRSE) and the HDR-VDP2 quality metric. JPEG2000 and HEVC perform fairy similar and better than JPEG-XT.

Statistics of Infrared Images [PDF]
The proliferation of low-cost infrared cameras gives us a new angle for attacking many unsolved vision problems by leveraging a larger range of the electromagnetic spectrum. A first step to utilizing these images is to explore the statistics of infrared images and compare them to the corresponding statistics in the visible spectrum.
