Through-skull fluorescence imaging of the brain in a new near-infrared window

open access: yesNature Photonics, 2014
To date, brain imaging has largely relied on X-ray computed tomography and magnetic resonance angiography with limited spatial resolution and long scanning times.

Compression of Infrared images [PDF]

open access: yesElectronic Imaging, 2017
This paper investigates the compression of infrared images with three codecs: JPEG2000, JPEG-XT and HEVC. Results are evaluated in terms of SNR, Mean Relative Squared Error (MRSE) and the HDR-VDP2 quality metric. JPEG2000 and HEVC perform fairy similar and better than JPEG-XT.

Statistics of Infrared Images [PDF]

open access: yes2007 IEEE Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, 2007
The proliferation of low-cost infrared cameras gives us a new angle for attacking many unsolved vision problems by leveraging a larger range of the electromagnetic spectrum. A first step to utilizing these images is to explore the statistics of infrared images and compare them to the corresponding statistics in the visible spectrum.

An Excursus on Infrared Thermography Imaging [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Imaging, 2016
This work represents an overview of some of the applications of infrared thermography that have been carried out at the University of Naples Federico II over the years. The focus is on four topics: thermo-fluid-dynamics, materials inspection, cultural heritage and preventative maintenance.
