Standardization of infrared imaging
The 26th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2005To provide an atlas and database for the temperature distribution of the skin in normal human subjects aged from 10 years to 75 years. The technique used in digital infrared thermal imaging which has been in use since 1960. Despite, many different applications and published studies, a normal database is not available.

Surgical Endoscopy, 1997
A system was developed to determine the potential role of infrared imaging as a tool for localizing anatomic structures and assessing tissue viability during laparoscopic surgical procedures. A camera system sensitive to emitted energy in the midinfrared range (3-5 micron) was incorporated into a two-channel visible laparoscope.

Image Segmentation of Human Forearms in Infrared Image
2006 International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2006Due to the possibility of detecting certain physiological conditions from thermal features of the skin surface acquired from infrared thermal imaging, the health conditions of a person can be revealed by analyzing the thermal signatures of his or her forearms regions in an infrared image.

Infrared imaging of subcutaneous veins
Lasers in Surgery and Medicine, 2004AbstractBackground and ObjectivesImaging of subcutaneous veins is important in many applications, such as gaining venous access and vascular surgery. Despite a long history of medical infrared (IR) photography and imaging, this technique is not widely used for this purpose.

Near infrared imaging with nanoparticles
WIREs Nanomedicine and Nanobiotechnology, 2010AbstractNear infrared imaging has presented itself as a powerful diagnostic technique with potential to serve as a minimally invasive, nonionizing method for sensitive, deep tissue diagnostic imaging. This potential is further realized with the use of nanoparticle (NP)‐based near infrared (NIR) contrast agents that are not prone to the rapid ...

Matching of infrared and visible images
2012 9th International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery, 2012A new matching method based on improved Nonsubsampled contourlet transform (NSCT) is put forward to solve the problem of low matching precision in matching of infrared and visible images. Firstly, improved NSCT is introduced; then, improved NSCT disassembly is done; next, energy at each little region is calculated to compose circumcircle.

Infrared Images of Natural Subjects
Applied Optics, 1968Images of a number of natural subjects have for some time been made using wavelengths longer than those to which film is sensitive. This has been done by use of instruments employing mechanical scanning and cooled semiconductor detectors. Some of this imagery is now becoming available for general use.

Biomedical infrared imaging in Japan
IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Magazine, 1998We discuss the present state of biomedical infrared imaging in Japan as well as strategies for future growth. We review the systems currently being used here and the extent of their use. We also address the professional and cultural preconceptions that must be overcome in order to increase the international participation of Japanese researchers in ...

An infrared image synthesis model
Proceedings Pacific Graphics '98. Sixth Pacific Conference on Computer Graphics and Applications (Cat. No.98EX208), 2002The paper proposes an infrared image synthesis model based on infrared physics and heat transfer. The model successfully reproduces the infrared images of the object under different viewing, ambient and internal conditions. Experimental examples illustrate the potential of our method.
