The Origin of Gamma-Rays from Globular Clusters [PDF]
Fermi has detected gamma-ray emission from eight globular clusters. We suggest that the gamma-ray emission from globular clusters may result from the inverse Compton scattering between relativistic electrons/positrons in the pulsar wind of MSPs in the ...

INFRARED COUNTERPARTS OF X-RAY GALAXIES
Population studies of the extragalactic objects are a major part of the universe large-scale structure study. Apart from radio, infrared, and visible wavelength bands, observations and further identification of extragalactic objects such as galaxies, quasars, blazers, liners, and active star burst regions are also conducted in the X-ray and gamma bands.

An infrared background-TeV gamma-ray crisis? [PDF]
We consider the implications of the recent determination of the universal infrared background for the propagation of photons up to 20 TeV from the active galaxy Markarian 501 as observed by HEGRA. At 20 TeV the mean free path for photon-photon collisions on the infrared background would be much shorter than the distance to Markarian 501, implying ...

Infrared Sensor Detection and Actuator Treatment Applied during Hemodialysis
Infrared thermography can be applied in different medical systems, for example it can be used to catch the images of living blood vessels. Far infrared rays can be used in a heating machine, which can be applied in the clinical hemodialysis patients ...

The X‐Ray, Optical, and Infrared Counterpart to GRB 980703 [PDF]
We report on X-ray, optical and infrared follow-up observations of GRB 980703. We detect a previously unknown X-ray source in the GRB error box; assuming a power law decline we find for its decay index alpha < -0.91 (3-sigma). We invoke host galaxy extinction to match the observed spectral slope with the slope expected from `fireball' models.

Multiple-Collision Free-Electron Laser Compton Backscattering for a High-Yield Gamma-Ray Source
We observed multiple-collision free-electron laser (FEL)-Compton backscattering in which a multi-bunch electron beam makes head-on collisions with multi-pulse FELs in an optical cavity, using an infrared FEL system in the storage ring NIJI-IV.

The location of an active nucleus and a shadow of a tidal tail in the ULIRG Mrk 273 [PDF]
Analysis of data from the Chandra X-ray Observatory for the double nucleus ULIRG Mrk 273 reveals an absorbed hard X-ray source coincident with the southwest nucleus, implying that this unresolved, near-infrared source is where an active nucleus resides ...

The Cosmic Infrared Background: Measurements and Implications [PDF]
The cosmic infrared background records much of the radiant energy released by processes of structure formation that have occurred since the decoupling of matter and radiation following the Big Bang.

Impact of Low-Energy Cosmic Rays on Star Formation [PDF]
In recent years, exciting developments have taken place in the identification of the role of cosmic rays in star-forming environments. Observations from radio to infrared wavelengths and theoretical modelling have shown that low-energy cosmic rays ( < 1
