KIC 8462852 - The Infrared Flux [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We analyzed the warm Spitzer/IRAC data of KIC 8462852. We found no evidence of infrared excess at 3.6 micron and a small excess of 0.43 +/- 0.18 mJy at 4.5 micron, below the 3 sigma threshold necessary to claim a detection.

Facet-based infrared small target detection method

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2005
The cubic facet model is applied to fit the underlying intensity surface in infrared small target detective procedure. Using the partial derivatives of the fitted surface to make decisions regarding the maximum extremum points is proposed. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method is efficient and robust.

IRSDT: A Framework for Infrared Small Target Tracking with Enhanced Detection

open access: yesSensors, 2023
Currently, infrared small target detection and tracking under complex backgrounds remains challenging because of the low resolution of infrared images and the lack of shape and texture features in these small targets.

The SCUBA Bright Quasar Survey (SBQS): 850micron observations of the z>4 sample [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We present initial results of a new, systematic search for massive star-formation in the host galaxies of the most luminous and probably most massive z>=4 radio-quiet quasars (M(B) 10^13Lsun).

Hardware-Accelerated Infrared Small Target Recognition Based on Energy-Weighted Local Uncertainty Measure

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Infrared small target detection is a key technology with a wide range of applications, and the complex background and low signal-to-noise ratio characteristics of infrared images can greatly increase the difficulty and error rate of small target ...

Adjacent Infrared Multitarget Detection Using Robust Background Estimation [PDF]

open access: yes
Small target detection is very important for infrared search and track (IRST) problems. Grouped targets are difficult to detect using the conventional constant false alarm rate (CFAR) detection method.

Target Driven Adaptive Loss for Infrared Small Target Detection

open access: yes2025 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP)
We propose a target driven adaptive (TDA) loss to enhance the performance of infrared small target detection (IRSTD). Prior works have used loss functions, such as binary cross-entropy loss and IoU loss, to train segmentation models for IRSTD. Minimizing these loss functions guides models to extract pixel-level features or global image context. However,

Near-infrared Linear Polarization of Ultracool Dwarfs

open access: yes, 2011
We report on near-infrared J- and H-band linear polarimetric photometry of eight ultracool dwarfs (two late-M, five L0-L7.5, and one T2.5) with known evidence for photometric variability due to dust clouds, anomalous red infrared colors, or low-gravity ...
