Coloured polyhydroxyalkanoates: A review

open access: yesColoration Technology, EarlyView.
Abstract Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) are a class of biopolymers produced by various microorganisms, with poly(3‐hydroxybutyrate) being the most extensively studied. PHAs are widely studied as substitutes for conventional plastics due to their similar physicochemical properties. However, the production cost of PHAs remains high.

Development of a Novel Double‐Layered Wound Dressing Composed of Chitosan Film and Tigecycline‐Loaded Electrospun Polycaprolactone Nanofibers

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, Volume 142, Issue 26, July 10, 2025.
The antibacterial double‐layered wound dressing is fabricated using chitosan (CH) film as the contact layer and tigecycline (Tig)‐loaded poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PCL) nanofibers as the top layer. The CH film has a uniform morphology, and the PCL‐Tig nanofibers show a smooth, randomly oriented, and beadless structure.

Two Key Ferredoxins for Nitrogen Fixation Have Different Specificities and Biophysical Properties

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 31, Issue 37, July 2, 2025.
Two ferredoxins, FdC and FdN, are collectively essential for the process of nitrogen fixation by the iron nitrogenase in R. capsulatus. We explore the biophysical factors, through spectroscopic and structural characterizations, which determine ferredoxin functionality and pathway specificity. The structure of FdC (PDB: 9I2A) and model of FdN (AF‐D5ARY6)
