Unlocking the Power of Quercetin‐Encapsulated Mesoporous Bioactive Glass Nanoparticles: A Multifunctional Approach to Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mesoporous bioactive glass nanoparticles (MBGNs) are investigated for bone regeneration given their remarkable structural and functional properties. MBGNs are functionalized with Mn and Cu and incorporated with quercetin, a natural flavonoid exhibiting antioxidant, anti‐inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties.

Tunability and Losses of Mid-infrared Plasmonics in Heavily Doped Germanium Thin Films [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Heavily-doped semiconductor films are very promising for application in mid-infrared plasmonic devices because the real part of their dielectric function is negative and broadly tunable in this wavelength range. In this work we investigate heavily n-type

Microcellular Poly (Ethylene‐Co‐Vinyl Acetate)/Lignin Nanocomposites for Soft Ferroelectrets

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Lignin valorization for advanced porous polymer nanocomposites development and an upscaling route for continuous manufacturing of soft ferroelectrets for energy harvesting are studied. This work examines the role of lignin and carbon nanotubes (CNT) in modifying the mechanical, dielectric, and ferroelectret properties of poly (ethylene‐co‐vinyl acetate)

The Extended Atlas of Low-resolution Spectra from the Infrared Astronomical Satellite

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series
We present an updated atlas of spectra from the Low-Resolution Spectrometer (LRS) on the Infrared Astronomical Satellite (IRAS), which took spectra from 7.67 to 22.73 μ m with a spectral resolving power ( λ /Δ λ ) of 20–60.

Efficient and Scalable Radiative Cooling for Photovoltaics Using Solution‐Processable and Solar‐Transparent Mesoporous Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Graded refractive index (GRI) structures are prepared from the layer‐by‐layer spray coating of the mesoporous SiO2 nanoparticles, showing high solar transparency and thermal emissivity. Under outdoor conditions, after 50 days, the GRI‐coated photovoltaics show on average 6.65 ± 1.48 °C lower than that of the non‐coated references, maintaining 80.9 ± 8 ...

A broadband silicon quarter-wave retarder for far-infrared spectroscopic circular dichroism

open access: yes, 2014
The high brightness, broad spectral coverage and pulsed characteristics of infrared synchrotron radiation enable time-resolved spectroscopy under throughput-limited optical systems, as can occur with the high-field magnet cryostat systems used to study ...
