Initial test results on bolometers for the Planck high frequency instrument [PDF]
We summarize the fabrication, flight qualification, and dark performance of bolometers completed at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory for the High Frequency Instrument (HFI) of the joint ESA/NASA Herschel/Planck mission to be launched in 2009.

Non-contact infrared thermometers [PDF]
I wrote a letter to the BMJ last year setting out the evidence for non-contact infrared thermometry in adults.1 Unlike paediatric use,2 my conclusion was that these devices are not reliable in adults, largely because vasoconstriction of the blood supply to their foreheads and perspiration leading to a dangerously high false negative rate.

TEMPERATURE AND RELATIVITY [PDF]
We investigate whether inertial thermometers moving in a thermal bath behave as being hotter or colder. This question is directly related to the classical controversy concerning how temperature transforms under Lorentz transformations. Rather than basing

Lanthanide grafted phenanthroline-polymer for physiological temperature range sensing [PDF]
Accurate measurement of the temperature is crucial as it determines the dynamics of almost any system. Conventional contact thermometers are not well suited for small scale measurements. Temperature dependent luminescent materials, i.e.

Zero Drift Infrared Radiation Thermometer Using Chopper Stabilised Pre-Amplifier
A zero-drift, mid–wave infrared (MWIR) thermometer constructed using a chopper stabilised operational amplifier (op-amp) was compared against an identical thermometer that utilised a precision op-amp.

A comparison between conductive and infrared devices for measuring mean skin temperature at rest, during exercise in the heat, and recovery. [PDF]
PURPOSE:Skin temperature assessment has historically been undertaken with conductive devices affixed to the skin. With the development of technology, infrared devices are increasingly utilised in the measurement of skin temperature.

Evaluation of different body temperature measurement methods for patients in the intraoperative period [PDF]
Objectives: this study aimed at estimating and comparing the reliability of temperature measurements obtained using a peripheral infrared temporal thermometer, a central cutaneous thermometer (“Zero-Heat-Flux Cutaneous thermometer”) and an esophageal or

An Experimental Study on the Heat Enhancement and the Bio-Heat Transfer Using Gold Macro Road and Ultrasound: A Potential Alternative to Kill Cancer Cells [PDF]
We have previously proposed a method of treating solid tumors with a combination of gold macro-rods irradiated with ultrasound. Macro particle sized rods offer a greater circumferential treatment area over nanoparticle options.
