A comparison of tympanic and rectal temperatures in term NIGERIAN neonates

open access: yesBMC Pediatrics, 2012
Background Tympanic thermometry has come as a suitable alternative to traditional thermometry because of its safety and ease of use. However, it is still yet to gain wide acceptance in African settings due to conflicting results on its accuracy, thus ...

Non-Contact Infrared Thermometry in Febrile Infants

open access: yesIndian Pediatrics, 2020
This cross-sectional study was done to find the agreement between non-contact infrared thermometry and mercury-in-glass thermometer. Two hundred and fifty febrile infants were recruited over a period of two months and axillary temperature was measured by both techniques. The mean (SD) temperature recordings of infrared and mercury thermometer were 37.6

Machine‐Learning‐Assisted Onset‐Time Determination in Transient Luminescence Thermometry

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
Artificial neural networks enable autonomous extraction of onset times from transient heating curves in luminescence thermometry. Using Ln3+‐doped upconverting nanoparticles as luminescent thermometers, we combine experimental transients with physically motivated synthetic curves to enhance data diversity and improve generalization.

Evaluation of Non-Contact Device to Measure Body Temperature in Sheep

open access: yesAnimals, 2023
Non-contact devices have been used in the measurement of body temperature in livestock production as a tool for testing disease in different species. However, there are few studies about the variation and correlations in body temperature between rectal ...

In Vivo Nb4C3Tx MXene‐Assisted Photothermal Therapy of Melanoma in Mice

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
Nb4C3Tx MXene converts pulsed 1064 nm irradiation into localized heat, producing concentration‐ and time‐dependent melanoma cell killing in vitro and suppressing tumor growth in mice. Histology reveals extensive tumor damage, macrophage‐associated material clearance, and no detectable persistent deposits in examined visceral organs, supporting Nb4C3Tx ...

Glycopolymeric nanoparticles transported by activated platelets protect ischemic myocardium by alleviating PANoptosis through targeting macrophage Dectin‐1

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
NP‐SF, designed to target macrophage Dectin‐1 and activated platelets, selectively accumulated in ischemic myocardium, where it was taken up by macrophages after platelet hitchhiking. By inhibiting NLRC5‐related PANoptosis, NP‐SF significantly attenuated pathological damage, and effectively preserved cardiac function in a murine ischemia–reperfusion ...

Quantum dot enabled thermal imaging of optofluidic devices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Quantum dot thermal imaging has been used to analyse the chromatic dependence of laser-induced thermal effects inside optofluidic devices with monolithically integrated near-infrared waveguides. We demonstrate how microchannel optical local heating plays
