Can Non‐Euclidean Distances Improve Spatial Interpolation of Precipitation in Mountainous Regions?
The presented non‐Euclidean distances aim to better represent spatial separation in mountainous regions. Three non‐Euclidean distance metrics are evaluated. An interpolation method combining a linear precipitation‐elevation profile with residual interpolation is tested.

Abstract Mountains play a critical role in the hydrological cycle by transferring heavy precipitation to lowland aquifers. However, their complexity and remoteness limit our understanding of groundwater flow, particularly the influence of faults. To fill the gap, semi‐idealized 3D numerical models calibrated using the mountain river network and the ...

Estimating the eco‐efficiency of urban waste services towards sustainable waste management
Abstract Assessing the eco‐efficiency of municipalities regarding the provision of solid waste services is a useful tool for improving its sustainability. However, robust, and reliable methods are needed to benchmark the performance of municipalities. Data envelopment analysis (DEA) methods typically used to assess the eco‐efficiency of municipal solid

Abstract In the face of climate change, it becomes crucial to motivate action and policies within water companies towards achieving carbon neutrality. Estimating the economic consequences of inaction can be a compelling catalyst for change. In this study, the carbon inefficiency and overuse of energy among a selection of English and Welsh water ...
