Ventilatory response during CO2 inhalation after airway anesthesia with lidocaine
Airway anesthesia with inhaled aerosolized lidocaine has been associated with increases in minute ventilation (VE) and mean inspiratory flow rate (VT/TI) during CO2 inhalation.

The butterfly unfolded wing in an open form structure of botulinum neurotoxin type A (BoNT/A) at physiological‐state was confirmed at 2.85 Å resolution by cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM). Structure‐guided protein engineering significantly enhanced the receptor‐binding affinity, therapeutic efficacy, and safety of the engineered toxin variants ...

Nitrosyl heme emerges as an extracellular nitrodilator that dilates arteries without crossing the cell membrane. Instead, heme‐NO mobilizes NO moieties from a preformed intracellular NO store within vascular smooth muscle, providing both functional and chemical evidence for the NANOS model, revealing a previously unrecognized mechanism of arterial ...

Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer‐related death. We investigated the role of the epigenetic regulator DMAP1 in NSCLC and found that its loss induces replication stress and DNA damage. This in turn activates type I IFN signaling via the cGAS–STING pathway and transcriptional ISG de‐repression, enhancing anti‐tumor immune responses ...

ABSTRACT Mast cells (MCs), key innate immune sentinels at the host–environment interface, serve as primary responders to invading pathogens. However, their specific contribution to host defense against cutaneous Candida albicans (C. albicans) infection and their synergy with other immune and non‐immune cells remain poorly understood. Here, we show that

Lung mechanics and neuromuscular output during CO2 inhalation after airway anesthesia
Airway anesthesia with aerosolized lidocaine has been associated with an increase in minute ventilation (VE) during CO2 inhalation. The increase in VE may be due to increased neuromuscular output or decreased mechanical load on breathing.

Legumain (LGMN) is upregulated in macrophages during sarcoid‑like granuloma formation. Macrophage‑derived LGMN binds to integrin αvβ3 and suppresses mTORC1/STAT1 signaling to restrain M1 macrophage polarization. Intratracheal delivery of lipid nanoparticles carrying Lgmn plasmid DNA (pDNA) elevates LGMN expression and effectively attenuates pulmonary ...

Producing MSCs on rigid culture substrates induces a scar‐making phenotype, jeapordizing therapeutic success. ‘Tissue‐soft’ surfaces prevent MSC fibrogenesis and preserve regenerative traits. An epigenetic network, driven by HOXA11 and SALL1, maintains ‘soft memory’ by keeping chromatin open in relaxed MSCs, promoting anti‐fibrotic programs.
